Can't drip successfully (without a tank atty)

My first (succesful) shot at dripping was when I impulsively ripped the tank off my 510-t system (on an ego) and dripped directly into the tank atty. It worked great. I figured using a LR 510 atty would be even better, but I'm getting almost nothing but a toxic burning taste.

It's not primer. I blew that out, and washed the atomizer. Twice.

It's not the wash -- same method I've successfully used on the 510-t atty.

But it's gotta be something. I get almost nothing but success on the t atomizer, and a LR gives me nothing but foul stench. I don't think it's any defect, because it's the same foul stench a standard 510 atty gave me in my first stab at dripping.

OK You may have burned out the atty by running it dry, Tank attys are a bit more resilient than regular 510 attys. You washed it out? How? How long did you let it dry before using it? non tank attys take longer to dry out than tank attys in my experience.
It is important to keep it wet, but not to flood it.

Maybe I'd just be better off with tank attys then. More resistant + faster drying. Is there any drawback to dripping on them vs. the normal variety (were I to finally use them correctly)?

Not that I have found. I personally like the tank attys, but I do not use them for dripping. I use tanks and clearos.
You can still burn out a tank atty by the way, but with no filler to burn and just a bit of wicking material, it is a bit tougher to do

I just figured out part of my problem. I was burning it a bit at first, but more often I was getting nothing at all. Turns out my stainless steel drip tip cuts off all air circulation in the cone -- which doesn't happen with the tank atty because it is slightly longer.

Thanks. I'll keep playing around with it...now I'm actually getting some vapor.

Yes airflow is important! lol you will figure it out. There is a learning curve, but it is worth it in the end when you find your sweet spot.

I've haven't dripped out of my tank attys yet, but when I was using The 510 attys I realized that I wasnt keeping it wet enough. I've just both normal and de-bridge 510 attys. But where I find to be the best for drip for me is using a LR 306 atty, it works wonders for me and I'm glad I decided to go with a LR306 now.

I'd do the drip routine without the cone attached. It's still legal (in most states, anyway). lol
I've heard about "tank-drip" before, but don't quite get the picture. IMO the tank system is not well suited for dripping...since you'd have to hit the center of the "nail" or else have a pool of juice at the bottom of the plate (?) and sudden floods ymmv

But in the end, it's about what's working for you :)

If someone already said this...sorry, but try this:

Blow out the atty real good from the battery end.

Without the drip tip in:
1. Drip 5 drops on the atty bridge.
2. Do two quick burns without drawing air through it.
3. Add 3 more drops to the bridge.
4. Stick on your drip tip.
5. Vape away....every 8 or 10 hits add a few drops in your drip tip till you're ready to stop. Before stopping...vape it till performance drops off and vapor is thin...blow out the atty and put it away.

Good Method. I rarely drip, but this is how I do it.
