Hey gang... I've been a member here for a couple months, but this is my first post.

I've been attempting to make the switch to vaping for a few months now, but just can't seem to kick the analogs. I'll go a day where I have only a few smokes and alternate with vaping, then the next I'm back to a pack. I have a few different setups... all of the ego battery variety, some different cartos, tanks, etc. I've also tried a variety of different juices (from the same vendor), but just can't seem to find the taste/experience that fully satisfies my cravings.

So, my questions are this: How long did it take you to make the switch? What helped you make the switch... was it some "magic" juice, or something else? Has anyone used a specific strategy to eliminate the analogs? Really, I'm looking for some advice/motivation that'll help me make that final step. Thanks.

I quit analogs about a month ago and have been sticking strictly with vaping. I smoked about a pack a day. I did notice for about the first week or so I was craving regular cigarettes really bad. To counteract this I started to vape juices of about 24 mg of nic that had a good throat hit. Usually my cravings would subside and I would go on about my day. I would suggest not having a pack of analogs laying around at your disposal and maybe some gum to help with the anxiety as well.

Hi and welcome to ECF. How much did you smoke per day and what brand? Also what mg/ nic are you vaping? Are you drinking lots of water?

Thanks :). I'm about a pack a day smoker... canadian white regulars. All the juice I have is 18 mg and I've read about the water thing... probably haven't been drinking enough though.

I know the switch is going to be different for everyone, but I would think it is easier to kick analogs all together rather than having one or two to try to satisfy your craving. For me, starting with cigalikes that was quite difficult, I was chain vaping, getting variable throat hit and flavour and a generally unsatisfying experience, but I kept with it and trying new things until I found setups and juices that worked for me. Your experience is likely to be different to mine, but I've reached the point now, where a cigarette wouldn't be able to satisfy me the way a vape does.

I stopped the first day i got my kit. Everyone are different. Try up your nic some. I started out at 24mg and now i'm at 18mg and going to 12-16mg next week.

If you feel like having a analog, then just chainvape some. If you do take a analog, don't feel bad or anything if you, just hang in there and one day you will be "huh, i haven't touched a analog in a week".

Happy vaping and stay strong!

Thank you. You may want to up your nicotine to 24 mg. Most begin at 18 or 24 mg. I began at 36 mg.
Realize vaping is extremely dehydrating. The PG and VG are hygroscopic and trap the moisture in our throats, mouth and nasal area and thus the vapor. Add to that more than 3 cups java or caffeine drinks per day and you're looking at serious dehydration. I used to drink 10+ large cups java per day- have reduced it to 2-3 per day. Also drink 2+ liters water per day.

It might depend on the e-cig you got. I had an RN4081 and could never stick with it, and went back to analogs for a long time. A few weeks ago I got a different e-cig and I'm doing great. If it's the juice, it could just be the nicotine strength. I am using the juice that I got with my old e-cig, which is 24mg strength. I've found that with my eRoll, the fact that it looks like, is almost as light as, and produces as much vapor as a real cigarette has really helped me make the switch. The 4081 did not do the last two, which is why I think I had such a problem making the switch.

If you know anyone who vapes, ask to try theirs out. Or if there is a brick and mortar shop where you live, they might be able to let you try a few different ones out.

The blaring comment from the OP to me was "I've also tried a variety of different juices (from the same vendor), but just can't seem to find the taste/experience that fully satisfies my cravings."

Ok, your not going to quit something you know well with something you can't quite wrap around. Finding the TASTE to get you off analog's is probably the HARDEST part of kicking analogs.

SO lets start with finding something you LIKE. Sounds spendy you say? Well maybe NOT try HERE http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...sa-please-read-1st-post-rules-guidelines.html

I found my husbands all day vape through PIF'ing. I dumped the juices I didn't care for and found the one that got him off analog's permanently.

I did NOT start vapeing one day and never smoke again. Most of us didn't. BUT what I did, when I found a flavor I liked, was put my analogs in another room away from me, with my vape at hand. In essence, I had to get off my lazy .... and go GET the analog's if I wanted one. Gradually, over a couple month period, I found myself less and less, getting up and more and more vapeing. One day I woke up and looked at 5 packs of analog's in my freezer and tried to remember when the last time I smoked one was. To this DAY I couldn't tell you what my quit date is and frankly I dont' CARE. Point is, I didn't beat myself up. I let it happen. Maybe you can too :0)

Everyone is different. I didn't start out with the goal of quitting. I just wanted to cut back while I was sitting in front of the computer. I noticed after putting in my order for my first PV I was smoking less and less every day. When the mail showed up I opened and tried it out. I haven't smoked since. I have half a pack laying on my desk if I want one. Been in the same spot for 10 days now.

A lot of it is in your mind. You might change the way you are going about it. Your mindset. Don't think of it as quitting think of it as switching to something else.

As far as juices go after 5 posts wait 1 hr for the ECF servers to reset and http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...w-nic-supplier-list-via-pm-only-part-2-a.html
As far as juice vendors 8 Asst. Flavour Sample Packs | Jugheads His juices are highly regarded here at ECF and buying sample packs prolly the best idea. Located just outside Calgary.
When I first began vaping...
Best to buy samples to find your likes and dislikes. When I first began vaping I bought 30 wide ranging samples. Out of those 30 I liked 10. Immediately ordered another 20 and out of those I liked 10…so out 50 different flavors I enjoyed 20. Months later I tried those 30 samples that I disliked and enjoyed all but one. Whether it was because my tastes had changed or they needed steeping I don’t know. Realize also "same name" juices will vary greatly in taste from vendor to vendor as they all have diff recipes and order ingredients from diff Suppliers.

One more point. We all keep on hand a higher nic juice for when those urges hit. I'm now at 2 mg but have no problem vaping 8 mg when needed. 8 mg may not sound like much but it's a 400% increase from my normal juice.

Ditto. This is good advice.

I also advocate a vaping buddy...someone who wants to quit with you. I was fortunate enough to have a co-worker that I got along with very well join me on my vaping journey (which has quickly turned into a mod competition).

Equally good advice. Here's the Canada Forum LOTS of vapers from Alta.

Try going one day without cigarettes. and then if that works out
try two days. If you absolutely have to have a cigarette that's ok, but just have one.
It helps a lot if you can hide cigarettes somewhere. Out of sight, out of mind.
And when you are on your last pack just smoke one a day without going and buying more

Hi. I was a hard core 2 pack a day smoker that swore I would never ever quit smoking! I trully enjoyed smoking.
I'm going to tell you how I did it, what worked for me. After finding out my husband wanted to quit smoking, I started thinking.... Ugh I can't quit too, and I don't want too! I actually go t angry at him that he wanted to quit! Lmao!
So I needed to get a plan in place, I took one of my mothers e-ciggs brought it to work and on all my smoke breaks I would only vape that. When I was vaping I would read and read... Read about all the pros of vaping vs smoking and then I went to the dreaded anti-smoking sites reading all about how bad it was for you. Of course we all know that already but I also know as a smoker we avoid any information regarding what's actually in analogs and what it does to our body's. I'll tell you it really helped!
Then I vowed to never buy ciggeretts again. Amajin he shock when I told hubby uh yea... I quit before you. Lol
See the trick to getting off analogs and only vaping is you need to eleminate analogs out of your life completely! Don't have them near you, not in your house, not in your car... Nowhere! Don't let them be assesable to you! This way when you need a cigg, your only option is to vape the crap out of your PV! And that's ok! Before you know it, you will be discusted by analogs. You are letting your conscious deside what you want to do, vape or smoke. You need to leave no option but to vape.
Before you know it, you will walk into a store past a smoker and be completely grossed out by the smell and think to yourself, why the f@$k
Would someone smoke analogs when they can have as much satisfaction from vaping plus it's more fun!
And one last thing, your mind is in control of everything! Don't think anything negetive about vaping, don't think "this is not going to do it for me, I'm having a moment, I need a cigg" think to yourself, "thank god I have my PV, this is so good"! It's all in your mind. And if you don't feel "satisfied" higher your nicotine mg!
I really hope this helped

Part of the addiction of smoking is the activities involved in smoking. Like with that first morning coffee, driving or for me after a big meal. You have to disassociate those activities with smoking a cigarette. With me I was only going to vape in my car and at home and still smoke at work. But after I while I didn't like the taste of my cigarette anymore and then I just didn't buy anymore.

I still have my trusty V2 cig a like battery around though for when Im stressed or just want the act of smoking, does the trick everytime.

I switched the day I had my first ecig. Honestly I thought it was more cool than anything else. I thought it was like futuristic year 3000 smoking or something and chicks at bars were always super interested and it was an excuse to get more numbers. Then I got a PV and I started really liking the flavor but yeah for me it was to be the one cool guy that smoked a cigarette with a blue light at the end inside the club and got away with it in front of bouncers and smelled great lol...it wasnt a matter of fighting an addiction because I do things because I want to and when I choose to not, I dont. E cigs just made it make sense to make that decision.

I cant speak for other people, but I'm convinced its a matter of will. If you have the will to quit, youll do it, if you dont youll find every reason to keep smoking. Thats just how humans are about anything. They find rationales to do whatever it is they want to do to make it an eventuality for them to follow the course of action they really want inside. So what if you keep smoking another 5 years. You WILL eventually get sick of it and quit because you cant stand it anymore and if its e cigs or a new chick or religion or who knows but youll find a reason to quit. Youre just not there yet. If youre that weak of a person that you cant follow through on choices you make thats a separate issue, I mean nicotine isnt like crack or ...., youre gonna be irritated for a good while but youre not gonna be totally disfunctional if you quit. Nike said it best
