Anyone else had this prob? I love vaping but can't seem to completely let go of the real thing. I've smoked for 25 years now and was up to 2 packs a day of virginia slim menthol 120s. I'm down to little less than half that now but vaping also.

Keep telling myself this it no more real ones but then I give in and get a pack. Hubby said yesterday it reminds him of a kid with a security blanket lol

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I had the same problem, actually. For a few weeks after getting my first PV I found myself huddling around a pack of analogs, using the PV only inside. What I found worked for me was getting a higher strength nicotine fluid. I started with 18mg, and moved up to 24. The 24mg fluid gave me the nicotine buzz I needed to stay away from analogs for almost a week now. I was a little less than a pack a day smoker, and the 24 is what pulled me from analogs. If you're a heavy smoker, you might try something a little stronger. I find that if I'm craving an analog, I'll vape away on my 510 until the craving goes away, no matter how long it takes.

Stick with it, but don't kick yourself for using analogs either. Eventually you'll phase out of analogs completely and enjoy a tar-free smoking experience like the rest of us!

Yes, this can happen sometimes, and there can be a lot of reasons for it.
But almost everyone cuts to much less than half of what they used to smoke pretty quickly.

How long have you been vaping?

What device are you using?
Are they manual or automatic batteries?

What liquid are you using?
What is the strength of that liquid?

What frustrates you the most about using your electronic cigarette?
What do you miss most about smoking?

And finally, can you put your finger on any reasons you want a cigarette?

Please do not be so hard on yourself:)
Going from 2 packs of 120's a day down to 1/2 a pack is AMAZING!!!!!
I have been smoke free for 5 months today and still have a 1/2 pack of my old ciggys sitting in the freezer.
You will get there, give it time!

It took me almost a year to quit completely. At the end, I was down to one a day, then one a week. Now, I just can't be bothered to go outside to smoke anymore. Smoking is more inconvenient than vaping. Stick with it, and be patient with yourself. Any reduction is positive. I agree with the previous posters that experimenting with flavors, models and strengths is a good way to increase your chances. I finally quit after playing with DIY and making stronger flavors. Have fun with vaping and don't sweat if it takes a while to stop for good.

Been vaping about a month and a half now
Started with the V4L manual batts and cartomizers I like this but refilling the cartos I don't seem to get good results

Had an Ego now starting my 2nd week love it but not as handy as the v4l at work

Have green apple, rootbeer, fuzzy navel, mint chocolate, grape from Vapor Bomb, and the cartomizers I've gotten and all my juice are 24mg

I'm thinking maybe hubby is partly right because I do love the vaping and for the most part haven't had any issues with equipment etc. I have wondered about the liquids tho as these I have the flavor isn't real strong.
I've considered trying Viking Vapor liquid because I see they will do double flavor.

All and all am wondering if it's just all in my head tho.

If your join date is your start vaping date then you havent been doing it that long - I wouldnt worry unduly and read DC2s post; your replies may be illuminating

Join date wasn't my starting point. I lurked around here for a long time reading and trying to make my choices. I will say this tho, you all rock and are a great group of people. I know reading here has saved me a lot of money and mistakes:thumb:

I'm in the same boat, although I've only been at this for four days now. My biggest problem seems to be that the vape seems to wear off faster than an analog. I could go 2 1/2 - 3 hours before craving a cig, but now I get the nic craving again in about an hour.

I started at 18mg and when that clearly wasn't doing the trick, I tried a prefilled 24mg carto. That one gives me a more fulfilling vape than I was getting, but it still seems to wear off quickly, making me want to get a better boost of nic.

I ordered some different cartomizers (V4L) and the 24 mg e-juice from TastyVapor, hoping that I just need to get better performing materials. I also changed the PG/VG ratio on what I ordered, hoping that will help. If that doesn't, I'll try upping my nic again.

Even so, I'm down to about 7 analogs a day, which is infinitely better than my former pack and a half habit.

I think for now, we should just focus on all of the analogs we're NOT smoking, rather than the few that we are. Good luck!!!

Good point, and even with the things I try and don't work out I'm still spending way less money vaping (so far that is). I keep seeing all these different kinds of ecigs and flavors, sometimes feel like a kid in a toy store

I'm about to go back to smoking full time myself. I've been vaping since April 22 when I bought my first pv. I don't even know what kind it is. It doesn't say anywhere it's from PureSmoke not Pure Smoker just PureSmoke. There's a place here that sells only those and they are good but way expensive $60 for 1 battery and charger and $31 for 10 carts, not a e liquid type, just carts. The Carts got a bit much to keep buying. Then I purchased a 510 two weeks ago, also 6 different liquids. Now both the puresmoke and one of the 510 batteries are completely dead and won't work at all no matter what I do. So I'm down to only 1 that works. I'm not having good luck for sure. I've spent $350 in the past 2 months on these thing.

I just can't seem to find the right PV and liquid that works for me either. Granted I've only smoked 1 pack of real cigs in the past 2 months but I just can't seem to get rid of that wanting the real thing. My PV's are not being nice to me. I've only use the automatic kind I'm not to sure about having to press a button it just didn't seem it would be like the real thing to me. Some of the liquid I got was 18mg and it's a bit to high I get a skin burning reaction to it.

I think my biggest problem has been not getting the total throat hit that you get from the real thing. I feel like I'm just sucking air every time I take a puff and that seems to make me want more.

Like Klasy I'm getting way close to going back to the virginia slim 120s myself, that was my brand too, Non Menthol though can't handle the vicks salve taste. LOL

I'm not going back to the real thing, am just having trouble laying them down completely. I love my ego, am considering getting a Joye 510 set for when at work. Love vaping just need a little more time to say goodbye to the real thing I guess

I'd like to add my two cents worth for Klasy and Sheryl...
Vaping does take a little getting used to. For many it's not an immediate transition as there is a learning curve assocaited with each type of PV you decide to use. Analogs get many people through their frustration of finding their "sweet spot" with devices, voltages, juices, etc. I say that when you are ready to give up the analogs completely then you will do so. It's not something that everyone can do; go out and buy their first or second PV and expect to be off of the tobaccy's for good. It took me some time as well.

I started with a blu at the beginning of this year, then went to a sidesho, then to a tornado, then to a box mod, then to a silver bullet. I've finally found my "sweet spot" with 6v vaping and the right equipment all around. One of my biggest peeves was filling carts...Like many I couldn't get a good filler and my stuff leaked like a sive. I finally took a shot at cartomizers (510) and have never had an issue since. I've also never touched an analog since because my flavors finally fell into line, voltage was exactly what I needed for that craving, and got a crazy vapor / throat hit.

If more is what you are looking for in a PV, might I suggest going to a higher voltage mod that will allow you to go 6v or 3.7v? That way it's cheaper to try / test atty's and or cartomizers than it would be to keep buying PV's till you get that right one. The Chuck, Xhaler from Nhaler, V3 from Puresmoker, or Silver Bullet from Altsmoke would be my suggestions.

Good luck to both of you...the support is here if you need it!

Up your nicotine. We're not supposed to discuss sources for very high nic level juices so I won't be specific, but let me just say I ordered the strongest stuff from my usual vendor and I am now a very happy vaper.

It is necessary to dial back before bed if you don't want to have some very interesting dreams and/or insomnia. But at higher concentrations you will get something very similar to the quick rush from a cigarette. I have zero urge whatsoever to pick up tobacco. My mind is sharp, I'm creative again, and I'm losing the weight that I put on while I wasn't smoking for 2 years, but without the cough and loss of energy. The whole thing has put me in really good spirits... the long term outlook of being able to enjoy nicotine with less worries.

Stick with it for a while and don't worry if you need an old fashioned one once in a while. It'll pass.

I've been vaping since august of last year. I would love nothing more than to quit wanting and having a cigarette. I am down to 2-5 a day from 10-15. Here and there, I've gone 24 hours without. But it's not just the nicotine. I've been mystified, but many on this forum have reminded me that there are lots of other things in cigarettes that are NOT in e-juice. I almost resigned myself to vaping and smoking, but then I realized I was slowly but surely weaning myself off of the other chemicals in cigarettes. In October when I went 6 hours or more without a cig, I was very moody and emotional. Now, I can go that long or longer. Focus on finding the right equipment, juice flavors, and reducing your dependence on the other stuff in cigarettes. You'll get there. Don't lose heart. I'm not there yet either, but I'm closer than I've ever been. Also, look for threads about the other stuff in analogs to give you an understanding of what you're up against. I've been drinking some calming teas and that seems to help also. Best wishes.

You hit the nail right on the head.
Completely free of tobacco, you're going to go through a detox process.. It's not anything compared to nicotine withdrawl, it just feels "funny" and people get a little uneasy about it. Especially when the years of built up sludge begins leeching out of their gums and tissues. Then when the cilia regenerate later on, you'll hack up alot of the tar from your lungs.

I just bet that after you are off of tobacco for long enough, you probably will get ten times the "throat hit" from vaping. That's because we all learned to smoke cigarettes by doing it until we killed the nerve endings in our throats. If anyone can remember, smoking HURT until you "got use to it". I bet if you let those nerves grow back you'll have one hell of a "throat hit"!!

It's a good thing. A healing process. If given a chance to understand what's happening to them I don't think people will be so uncomfortable with it.

This is how they make cigarette tobacco: On youtube: QkTMx-1G0RQ
Post that as a link for me, please :)
I don't have 15 posts, yet :(

You hit my nail on the head, too, with that..
I vape and I don't have ANY cravings or problems.
I feel 100 times better being down to 2-3 cigarettes a day from 20+.

Why do I smoke that 2-3... I think it's something I don't want to let go of... I've had to let go of everything, just everything I've ever enjoyed or loved... And I think what that one guy wrote about the human brain thinking cigarettes are a loved one or friend is shockingly accurate.

When we learn to see it as something we're GETTING RID OF rather than something we're LOSING or GIVING UP ... I think we have a better chance of getting away from it!
