a forum strictly devoted to "ECF is down....it's back up....it will be back up"....etc?

Just a central site to keep us informed of what's going on. I went to bed last night...everything was fine. Got up this AM....couldn't get in. I'm trying to get ready for work and have to keep checking back

Would just be easier if there was one place to go to check the status instead of going to 15 different forums to try to find out what's going on!

Sorry guys - it's the new hosts. I'm getting pretty fed up with it myself.

I just don't understand why they haven't been able to keep the site up. If this happens again, I will have to change hosts, again.

If anyone's interested in the latest, here's why we were down today:

You're seeing that because the host node's drive is full. You won't have access to your full amount of space until we free up some space, which we're working on now.

I don't know whether this is normal stuff with hosts or not, but there we go!

I don't Twitter but Parked has been fantastic at informing the forums I mentioned above. He really has been good at keeping us all informed.

Let us know if you need any technical help Smokey Joe. I haven't got a clue but there are lots of people around who do.

most go here... if anybody has doubts.. check the post read count... over fifteen thousand at my last count.. 95% of it during ECF down times not a lot of use at other times....

Trouble is, of course, that if there's a problem with the host, there's not a lot I can do, tech know-how or not. Apart from change hosts, that is.

I reckon a new host could be a good call, i've been on a few times today and i've got a message telling me the server is too busy try again later.

We have two forums, and went through several providers before finding the right one (losing our mind in the process).

It can get extremely frustrating find the right provider. Many search engines and review sites of hosts are sponsored, and there’s a lot of scamming all over in this area. It’s far too easy to become a hosting company, or reseller.

The one we eventually ended up with was Host Gator. Their servers are very reliable, with practically no down time. I think they strive for 99.99% uptime, and take that number to heart.

Anyways, just a thought, if you trust some others having gone through the mill.

Ha! When I went to post this this morning, I got the busy message again so I didn't think it made it. I even typed a second one and the same thing happened. But I just got home from work and here it is!

I was thinking of just a spot....not necessarily a forum to discuss...but a type of notification center where people can report on the status. I'm not necessarily talking about a place you have to join to read....just a simple notification center of when the dang thing comes back up. Repeatedly refreshing and getting the same message really gets annoying, especially when it's painfully slow to come up. There I sat, waiting for it to load, on the off chance it might actually do so....but even when it did, it lasted like one read....then down again.

I see there's still problems.

Is it a dedicated server? If so, what hosts have you looked at? I can understand if you don't want to discuss this btw.
