Ok, I am 24 years old, started smoking at ten years old, am a heavy smoker, a pack to a pack and a half a day minimum of marlboro reds. Just got joye 510 in the mail yesterday, it is working in the sense that I haven't smoked an analog cigarette since, but man I need to pretty much vape constantly all day... My first day I used up about 30% of a 10ml bottle of ejuice (high strength 24mg). Does this get any easier?

I started with the blu, and it almost made me swear off e-cigarettes, I thought it just wouldn't cut it for me. Don't get me wrong, I got some good hits off the blu, but it seemed like I could only get one good hit like every 30 minutes with it. And while I am getting good vapor production, I don't seem to get as much as what I see people blowing out on the youtube videos.

I really have no desire to quit completely, if I can enjoy smoking with the ecig without getting lung cancer, heart disease, and emphysema like analog's there is no reason to.. Although I don't want it to always be my 6th finger like it was today.

Reasons I quit analogs were that it's way too expensive since the last tax hike and I have always coughed since I have started smoking, but lately it has been getting a lot worse, like to the point where people have been asking me if I am ok.

It does calm down some - tho I tend to use mine like a pacifer  So I'm going to get lower nic strengths to do that. You might want to get ONE juice thats really high to top you off for when your cravings are bad - just a couple of puffs on that should do it - do be careful though not to overdo the nic it can give you headaches or tummy upsets.

By reading alot here, what some people do when they have been heavy analog smokers is in the morning, they might start off with 36 mg and then drop down for the rest of day to 24. You just need to find your "sweet spot". It will probably be hit and miss for a little bit but in the long run alot better than going back to analogs. Congrats on the new PV and welcome!

I'm such an addict that I just grabbed an analog without realizing what I was doing before I put it down and just then realized that I don't do that anymore.

That's not being an addict, that's just habit. There have been a lot of posts of people who have actually tried to light the end of their PV not realizing it wasn't a cigarette. Others have tossed their PV out the car window thinking they were done smoking that cig, or try to snuff it out in an ashtray. We've become such creatures of habit that it's normal to reach for it without thinking. It's just like driving, how often do you even think about actually pushing down the clutch or brake or the accelerator?

The most difficult part for you right now is training your own brain to accept your new hobby as your new way of smoking. More than likely you are getting enough nicotine into your system, but cigarettes with their more than 4,000 chemicals contained other addictive chemicals that you are not getting anymore, crap that big tobacco intentionally put in cigs over the years just to keep you hooked and spending your money on their nasty products. DON'T LET THEM CONTROL YOU ANYMORE.

You can do this. Now shut up and let me finish my coffee! I'm only kidding!!!

If you continue to read you'll find that many people who have been vaping for some time still smoke cigarettes every day because until they've learned to accept their PV's as their new cigs, they just have to grab one, two or three analogs a day - that's normal. The best part about it is that even they have cut their analog use dramatically and are slowly weening themselves off of their lifelong bad habit.

So just like a nice (expensive) Cuban cigar, sit back in your nap chair and enjoy your new hobby one vape at a time. And if you have to grab an analog or two per day - go for it. A lot of vapers quit smoking instantly, but just as many do not. Once you start noticing all the benefits of vaping over smoking, like no more smokers cough, no more nasty smells, butts, lighters, ashes, ashtrays, clothes/furniture/house/car/truck smelling better, no more shortness of breath, sense of smell returning, things tasting so much better and so much more, you will start winning the battle of cigs once and for ever.

Life is too short. After more than 36 years of smoking I'm actually looking forward to things I honestly thought I would never do again, walking, bike-riding, hiking and so much more.

Don't sweat this. If it takes a while, so what? You are already on the road to a much healthier and longer future!

Only trying to help.

The bad news is you are still going to detox because while you are getting nicotine you are not getting all the stuff that cigarette tobacco is laced with to make nicotine more effective.

In the early days I kept two or three bottles of 36mg around and used it when I needed the extra kick, when I hung out with my smoking friends and when I had a couple of drinks.

After a couple of weeks I was able to move down to 24-26mg for my main vaping and use a few different flavors in levels anywhere from 0mg to 18mg for when I just felt like I was just vaping out of boredom or whatever.

Detox = no fun. Drink lots of water and get some extra sleep.

I went thru the same thing, grabbing a smoke in the a.m. outta habit. Dripping a couple drops of 36mg VG for the first hits of the day cured that issue after a week or so.

Welcome and good luck. Nice screen name too, btw......

My advice is to get a a bigger PV.There are lots of them out there.I have a chuck and have noticed that after a few 6v vapes I am done for a half hour or so.I know what you mean though about having one of these things welded to your face all day. That got old to me pretty quick. That and small batteries.Walking around with chargers and xtra batt's in my pocket was a bummer. The bigger devices are a bit bulky, but they will light you up and kill the urge.

I woke up today with a sore throat, a very very hoarse and deep voice like somebody who smokes 3 packs a day for 40 years. I didn't have my usual morning coughing fit as bad, I had only a couple short coughs that actually hurt though, because the cough was non-productive (dry), while when I smoked and had my morning cough, it was lubcricated with plenty of nasty stuff I hacked up.

Was this from overuse of the ecigarette or part of the detox process of going off analogs?

Like myself and many others, you may be sensitive to the PG part of the e-juice. I make my own juices and use as much as 100% VG instead and this really makes a difference. Nicotine can cause throat irritation in higher doses too. For me anything higher than 18 or so and I can't do it for long at all. And as was just mentioned, drink at least twice as much fluids as you normally do (not necessarilly alcohol) but the more water you drink the better because PG also dehydrates you.

I have had my 510 kit now for 3 days, one e-cig is hooked up to a usb passthough constantly and the other I cycle the 2 batterys though. I bought 24mg e-liquid which is alittle strong for me so I've been cutting it with glycerin and adding alittle flavoring to enhance the taste. This is the best thing I could of done for my health I think!

I sometimes have to stop myself or I would chain vape all day though the passthough LOL.

I might be going across the grain on this but I was a heavy smoker for over 25 years. I stop analogs completely had problems with sore throat. So I smoked half the analogs I was used too, vaped the rest of the time and weaned my way down that way.

That is also a great suggestion too. Many vapers still grab an analog or few during the day as they gradually ween themselves off them and their throat gets used to vaping.

After 3 days without an analog I lit one up this morning and just about threw up. They taste bloody terrible now.
Bingo! and there you have the difference between vaping and any other method you will ever use to quit or cut back, every other time I quit I longed for them and even the nasty smell that clings to people that have just smoked smells good.

After vaping you are like ewwwww when you smell one after a long enough time.

This is the number one reason I'm so stunned when I see PVs under attack by bigoted anti-smoking groups.

As far as the sore throat goes I had that too the first week and thought I would have to go VG but it went away.

Up your water intake to stay hydrated and get some extra sleep.

Darkmonk i did the same thing 36 hrs i lit one up out of habit driving to work thew it out on the first hit. Been vaping non stop since i got my VK 510. One of my co workers stole my extra bat and atty to give it a try. the Bat died on him and within an hr he was begging me for it lol said smoking sucked compared to it. He had ordered a Blu e-cig and canceled his shipment. I think hes ordering the same one i have or one of the V4L e-cigs. This is by far the best investment i have ever made. now i gotta get me a passthrough 2 more attys and a few more bottles of juice (caramel and kamel i think is what im gonna get) hopefully i can order these this week.

I had this problem too. I drank more water. Kept a cough drop handy. And took mucinex so my coughs could be more productive.

The dry cough could be both from vaping a humectant like PG or VG and detoxing. I also found it got worse when the temp got colder and the air was less humid. Those days I plug in a humidifier.
