capella caramel, did a miss something important

Hey new DIYer here and I made up a batch of a diff flavor yesterday and it turned out great, mostly due to all the info I got from the most awesome forum. But today I tried to make a small 5ml batch of caramel apple. I used Jungle flavors apple 2 drops and Capella caramel 5 drops. The rest of the mix was 65 vg/ 35 pg 20mg nic and 1 drop sweetener. after steeping for a couple hours I thought I would try it to see how it was developing and the caramel was there but perfumy and very little else. With it being at the 2% recomended for the Jungle flavors and way under the 10% for capella I don't know what I did wrong, or will it just have to steep longer to balance out more.

I'm not very experienced using the 'drops' method nor with Capella caramel. Flavor West has a good caramel candy that can be used between 3-7%. TFA's RY4Double can be used as caramel imho lol.Around 7%.

On most of my DIY's i run a total flavor % of around 20% but i use high VG juice so if you use high PG you can use less. PG is a better flavor carrier. I go as high as 8% on flavors like Caramel if that is to be the main flavor. Again with high VG juice.
