Str8, can you elborate a little more on this testing method? Are you just adding a drop, then vaping, then adding a drop; or is there a step(s) in between like steeping, shaking, water bath or such? Plus as your vaping away your base your percentage is going to go up exponentially, right?

did I get the 1000? oh, so close.

You are correct . Let me explain

I fill a 3ml bottle with 20 drops of pg with dropper .The bottle is marked off for the 20 drop level. Then i add one drop of flavoring with the same dropper . I then shake the bottle and put 3 drops in a atty and vape it. I then add 2 drops pg and another drop flavoring to keep the bottle at the marked level . Next i drop 3 drops and vape (10%) . Then repeat until 20-25% just to be sure i dont undershoot my sweet spot and to know what it tastes like when it reaches a over flavored percentage . On flavors i think are going to be stronger i will start with a 40 drop base so i can start at 2.5% . Its not 100% accurate but its pretty close . I have done this on about 90 out of the 100+ flavorings i have .Its works really well to improve your diying . I dont know how id diy without doing it now . On each flavor i take notes and right down the sweet spot percentage and then taste notes on the flavor and overflavor etc . I also let them steep when im done and try it the next day and write notes on the taste after steeping . I have probably 90% of my Capellas flavoring to be right at 15% . Iv found 2 or 3 i think to be under 15% and a few that were 20% . My numbers do vary a lot with other vendors. HealthCabin is one that iv found almost all to be under 5% . Some like cereal sweetcorn was best at .75% . I had to dilute it in pg .

Whew, it took me two long sittings to catch up on this thread. Lots of good info and tips!

One good recipe for Capella's French Vanilla that I've tried (see my clickable sig) and really like is Breaktru's Lemon Zest recipe.

Lemon Zest

12% Vanilla
3% Lemon

I used Capella's French Vanilla and Flavorganics for the Lemon. Flavorganics is available from health food stores (maybe Trader Joe's). It is a steal at $5.95 for 2 fl. ozs (60ml).

Today I am vaping GoodDog's Gingerbread Brulee recipe with all Capella's flavoring. It is really good!

EDIT: I was surprised to see - as big as this thread is and with so much participation - that people haven't been rating it. I gave it a 5-star rating for all the great info.

I don't care for gingerbread as a rule so I'll never know the pleasure of Gooddogs brulee...sigh...

I came thiiiiiiiiis close to rating it, then remembered the squabbling and refrained :(

Nice one str8. This should be sticky or at the very least edited into Guide to DIY vaping.

Good idea with the level marked on the bottle.

Before I started doing this I felt my DIY involved a fair bit of luck...

For those of you who have voiced a concern regarding the dyes used in the Capella flavorings, here is a list of almost all of the flavorings with the dye ratings. I presently have about 50 of these juices made in 6ml bottles. That is how I rated them - how they appear made up. Hopefully, someone can post the info on the flavorings I don't have like Fig and French Vanilla. The flavors I have but do not have made up, so they aren't on the list, are French Vanilla, Peaches & Cream, Pumpkin Pie Spice, and Strawberries & Cream.

Clear and very light-color flavorings:
Amaretto
Apricot
Blueberry
Bubblegum
Cherry Cola
Coconut
Cola
Grape
Green Apple
Harvest Berry
Lemon Lime
Marshmallow
Pomegranate
Popcorn
Raspberry
Spearmint
Tangerine

Medium-color flavorings:
Apple Pie
Banana
Banana Split
Bull Horn
Caramel
Coconut
Marshmallow
Pina Colada
Root Beer Float
Strawberry
Toasted Almond

Dark-color flavorings:
Boston Cream Pie
Cappucino
Chocolate Fudge Brownie
Chocolate Glazed Donut
Chocolate Raspberry
Chocolate Toffee
Chocolate Coconut Almond
Cinnamon Danish
Cool Mint
French Toast
Double Chocolate
Dutch Cocolate Mint
Eggnog
French Toast
Hazlenut
Graham Cracker
Hot Cinnamon Candy
Irish Cream
K’lua and Cream
Maple
Peanut Butter
Orange Creamsicle
Pralines and Cream

Chocolate Fudge Brownie - Dark -
French Toast - Dark -
Marshmallow - Medium -
Harvest Berry - Light -
Double Chocolate - Dark -

Do you think Apple Pie is really dark? Mine is a yellow hue nothing close to the color of chocolates.

Okay, I moved the Apple Pie over to the Medium.

Thx for catching my chocolate misses. I haven't even opened my Chocolate Fudge Brownie. I'll have to mix some of that up in the morning.

I don't see this working Seabrook :( As with ToweKnee, I have a different experience than you report with many of these mixes..I have no idea why (age? acids added ie vinegar/lemon juice?) but it seems to be ....

Really Patti? Are there that many of them off? Most of mine are new with the white bottle + new labeling. I wonder what's up with that?

EDIT: I mix most of my juice with 15% flavoring. Maybe that's stronger than some mix?

Ya, I wish there was a place for everyone's techniques like this - all the way through the process (determining percentages, steeping methods, mixing flavors, when to add add-ons like EM, MTS, VW, ect. ect). There are a lot of old pros out there an I've been picking up advice like this here and there, but it would be great if there was a master list of techniques.

hmm, maybe I should start a collection.

Nice one str8. This should be sticky or at the very least edited into Guide to DIY vaping.

Most of my Caps are around 5-10% in single flavors. I think maybe 2 I mix around 15% ( Apple Pie & Vanilla Custard ). The fruit type flavors I add Tart & Sour but that stuff is very clear. Some of the bakery flavors I use Sucralose but again that is pretty clear as well.

Mine are the newer ones as well, and I use 5-10% as a rule so that makes sense. I'm still thinking the acids make a difference though...?

Ummm...are you my twin? I am exactly the same
