Capsaicin?

I've done some searching here and I can't find anyone that is seriously using capsaicin in their juices. I loved my first bottle of atomic fireball from tastyvapor because of the burning sensation I got from it. Unfortunately for some reason it doesn't give me the same taste or burning sensation anymore so I'm looking for an alternative.

Anyone know where to even get capsaicin diluted in something that would be usable for vaping?
I'm finding stuff like Pure Cap that's of more then enough scoville units but it's diluted in vegetable oil. Dunno how that'll be tolerated by the atomizer. I assume that'd have to be emulsified. I'm sure it would have to be further diluted anyhow.
I'm also seeing "Cayenne Extract" from health food/herb places but they don't list scoville units. It is, however, diluted in grain alcohol and water. I'm thinking something like this would add a flavor I don't want.

Anyone have any experience doing this? I don't get throat hit from vaping. I don't get much more then just inhaling flavored air. I've tried 5v and I like the warmness of the vapor but it alters the taste of most of my juices too much and essentially requires dropping which I hate.

Odd that it is a derivative of vanilla, isn't it? Of course very concentrated vanilla does burn. But not like capsaicin.

Not sure its a good idea to have it going into the lungs a lot, but then most of the vapor we ingest is orally absorbed, not in the lungs. I don't think it would hurt you, but it might feel like it is. :D Careful, a little capsaicin goes a LONG way! I love hot peppers, but a tiny fleck of pure capsaicin powder will blow your head off. Let us know how it goes!

I don't know if the flavor is supposed to be like the candy but wikipedia says: here

"Atomic Fireballs are a round, cinnamon-flavored hard candy invented by Nello Ferrara in 1954."

Maybe a strong cinnamon flavor would give you what your looking for.

Atomic Fireball doesn't work for me anymore. I went through 30ml in 2 weeks and now I can't taste the cinnamon or feel the heat from it. Even after a week or two of not using it. Real unfortunate since I loved it and thought I'd use it for the rest of time.

From me, it's not animosity, I've gotten a whiff of the stuff from a can of pepper spray (we were just checking out how well it sprayed) and just a drop or two of the mist hit the back of my throat and left a hell of a blister. Lesson learned, DO NOT spray it into the wind.

After that, I learned how potent the stuff is, so that's why I can not imagine trying to use it. It's a very serious irritant. Not something I would play with.

I don't understand all the animosity towards using capsaicin. I'm just talking about using a tiny bit to get roughly the equivalent sensation I got from atomic fireball. I'm not trying to get a Nuclear Buffalo Wing kind of hot.

I think it's a wonderful idea. I found a very interesting article on pubmed about vaping black pepper extract and its effect on smoking withdrawal. It explains some of the popularity of the spicy cinnamon flavors that seem to be all the rage around here.

Tobacco is a naturally spicy flavor when burnt, I think replacing a little bit of that tongue bite is a good idea when trying to replicate the smoking sensation.

Be INCREDIBLY careful with purecap though. I would not start experimentation with that substance. Do your own water or alcohol cayenne extraction first. It's cheaper and easier to control.

Black pepper (Piper) isn't particularly related to hot peppers (Capsicum) botanically - or chemically, as far as I know. It seems possible that black pepper could have something mildly psychoactive in it - Piper (genus) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - so I feel like pointing out they might be measuring more than just placebo, but it's a tasty spice either way. Hot peppers, of course, mostly just 'burn,' and burning releases endorphins in masochists.

Something like schnapps, or home alcohol extracts of hot peppers, might be the easiest way to get something without adding the additional volume of carrier oils. And as I've discovered after atomizer cleaning with grain alcohol (human-potable), alcohol itself has a bit of a throat hit, though exercise appropriate cautions. (If nothing else, it could probably screw up a breathalyzer if you're pulled over for swerving while trying to change batteries and drive.) I'm no chemist, but my bet is that a couple drops of hot-pepper-vodka would naturally emulsify in glycol or glycerin whether or not the capsaicin is really 'soluble' in it.

This stuff might actually be sort of healthy as an expectorant or herbal tonic. (I've got bad susceptibility to strep throat - even with no tonsils - and gargling with cayenne has knocked off a few impending infections. The antiseptic effect might have nothing to do with the capsaicin, though.) But I'll let you go first. (And if it doesn't work.. wasabi, anyone? :D)

Pepper Spray is 5million SHU. The stuff I ordered is 500,000 SHU. Pretty significant difference in that but I'm intending to dilute this a LOT. Like 1 drop in 30ml of PGA and then a drop of that in my juice. Or diluted even further if need be. I'm not trying to get any more heat then atomic fireball.

I chose Pure Cap because it's supposedly pure capsaicin diluted in oil. Not a pepper extract like what Walrus used. I'm hoping this will simply add heat without adding flavor.

Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week.

Nice article. And there was a related article about using an ascorbic acid aerosol to similar effect. I've considered trying citric acid (which is also mentioned in that study). :p

For me, the throat and lung sensation is key. It is, in my opinion, the reason why I've failed every previous attempt to quit. And while I'm nearly 3 months nearly tobacco free I still end up chain vaping and trying to get the biggest throat hit I can, just trying to get that sensation I so sorely miss.

Plus, I seem to not get anything like what others describe. Up the nic: I've tried 48mg liquid and don't get anything (other then light headed). All PG: Yeah nothing. Add some PGA: Was that supposed to do something?
