Ok, so I recently got into DIY. First of all, why didn't I do this sooner? Yes, I've had a few not so good recipes and some that didn't turn out as expected but were still quite good. It's a fun journey.

Anyway, a local shop here mixes all there juices at the shop, so no idea what they use for ingredients, but they have a caramel cream that I really love. I want to try my own but am having a really difficult time searching the web finding a good caramel cream recipe believe it or not. Still being new and not having tried a caramel recipe yet I'm not sure where to start on precentages. I'll list the ingredients that I have (obviously don't need to use all of them, just throwing out what I have related to a caramel cream. I can tweak if if it's close, and yes I know taste is subjective, just looking for ideas. Most of the recipes I've found have an RY4 included which I am not wanting.

So, the ingredients I have on hand: TFA Caramel; CAP Marshmallow; TFA Sweet Cream; CAP Vanilla Custard; CAP French Vanilla; TFA Vanilla Swirl; LOR Bavarian Cream; and I do have a LOR Butterscotch, (but I've not been able to successfully get anything good out of that one)

Like I said, just being new I don't have a good idea what percentage to use as a starting point with the caramel and necessarily what to add percentage wise to get a good creaminess. Hopefully it's possible with the ingredients I have, but I don't want to waste a whole bunch ( I know, part of the learning curve) experimenting.

Thanks to all!

It's been awhile since I used TFA Caramel. I moved away from it because it would gunk up my coils fairly quick. Anyways, I'd highly recommend single ingredient mixes on all your flavors. I know it's time consuming but it's the only way I know of to learn the flavors and how to work with them.

In the meantime, here's a mix that I know I'd like. (ymmv, subjective taste, yada yada)

Caramel 6%
Vanilla Swirl 3%
Sweet Cream 3 drops per ml

Doesn't need a long steep time, a day or two should do it.

That's funny because I was actually thinking something along those lines with those ingredients. I just wasn't sure the caramel percentage to use. I'm gonna mix that up for sure and can't wait to try it. Thank you so much!!!

Not worried about gunked coils, I've got plenty of kanthal and only use Rda/rba's. Easy to pull cotton, burn clean and rewick.

Love this community. Much appreciation for the reply!

Mixed it up and gave it a hot water bath and shake twice and let it sit a few hours with the cap off. I think a few days steeping and it should get even better but I had to try it. It's darn close to exactly what I was looking to achieve. Thank you so much.

Really about the only difference in my opinion is probably the brand of caramel. But this is great and just what I was looking for. Only made a small batch, so now for a bigger one to let steep awhile.

Great, glad you like it. The TFA Caramel Candy is a good candy type caramel if you'd want to go in that direction.

Try this.

Flavor West Salted Caramel or Caramel Candy 4-6%
TFA Sweet Cream 1-2%
CAP Vanilla Custard (the V1 that is. I don't like the V2 personally) 4-6%.

Personal preference would be to not add any PG to the mix to maximize the sweetness of the VG. Aim for 85% VG with the remaining 15% being the flavorings, Nicotine (if your nic is based in PG), and distilled water. For the distilled water, just plug it into your calculator as a PG flavoring. I'll give you an example recipe.

4% FW Salted Caramel (PG)
2% TFA Sweet Cream (PG)
5% CAP Custard (PG)
4% Distilled Water (PG)
12% 100mG Nicotine Base (VG)
73% VG (VG)

I feel obliged to note that the TFA Sweet Cream and the CAP Vanilla Custard Version 1 both contain ingredients that may or may not be harmful for your lungs.

Yeah, I aleady know about the warnings for the custard types and others, but thanks for the heads up anyway, always good to let people know. I did think about a higher vg mix and perhaps that's the differene I am actually tasting. This recipe is so close to exactly what I was looking for that I could leave it alone and let it be my ADV. The mix I mixed up was a 60/40 vg/pg and that was mainly because I wanted to use it in my kayfun as well which does'nt like vg really thick. The bottle I have from the bm shop is 80/20 and I've been only dripping with that. I wouldn't have thought there would be a difference in taste or that if there was a difference I would have thought the flavor would have been more muted due to the the vg. But hey, I'm still new at this and learning the DIY so learning from others here and reading through many different threads has been a huge help.

I don't have the salted caramel, but may order it on my next order. I didn't see a lot of feedback on people liking or disliking it so didn't order it. Oh, btw:, my nic is in a vg base at 24. I've been diluting it down to either 6 or 3 in my mixes. Is there any difference on it being in pg or vg or is it the same either way taste wise?

Yeah you'd be surprised. Personally, I don't notice any flavor drop-off at all when it comes to high VG mixes. All of my recipes exclude PG altogether, besides the flavorings being used. Distilled water will go a long way in making sure that you can wick your juices in Kayfuns. I vape out of a Russian 91% and all of my recipes wick perfectly.

Both salted caramel and caramel candy from FW taste pretty great imo, and both should be used between 3-7%. Everyone's tastes are different though so don't be afraid to experiment.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Going to have to try the distilled water trick. That's mainly the only reason I mix 60/40 for the kayfun. Boy though, this caramel is a coil clogger.
