So I just got my new Caravela clone a few days ago and I'm loving it! The only problem is that whenever I tighten/loosen the locking ring, it also tightens/loosens the switch. Is there any way I can use my locking ring while keeping my switch properly screwed in?
The design is intended to provide good continuity... with the button shaft OD being a (hopefully) close tolerance fit in the lock ring bore ID. Machining burrs can produce excessive drag.
Remove the switch assembly... and using a pair of pliers (small enough to fit inside the collet), firmly hold and tighten the battery contact plunger.
As the parts break in, the fit between the two (button shaft and lock ring collet) will
burnish in, placing less drag on the button shaft OD. You can speed this process along by placing a (very) small amount of polishing compound in the bore, and working the button's push and rotation. After cleaning, you'll find the button
throw and lock ring rotation much smoother.
