I had abandoned cartos for quite a while, but recently got some dual-coils, and I am really digging them on my REO's. I'm on day 13 on my first one, still going strong. Very nice, consistent vape, and the REO makes it simple to keep it wet (I pre-filled it before its first use).

13 days?!?!?! How the heck does that happen? I haven't tried the dual-coils yet (waiting on my fist-pack to be finished) BUT never have the longevity of cartos that other people have. Either my TastyVapor juice kills them or I'm a ........ or both. :)

I still have one going strong from my first box. it has the thinnest clearest juice I use in it and it just won't die. It won't plug up. And, it doesn't even seem to be getting dirty - I overfilled it a bit yesterday and blew it out a little. The juice that came out was just as clear as the juice I put in. I don't know how that happens either. I'm getting anywhere from 5 to 10 fills for each DC, but that one has been filled maybe 20 or more times and is performing just fine. I wish they all lasted like that.

On that one, I am using Halo Coolmist, which is clear and somewhat thin. I run 3-4ml of juice through it per day. I have had another one on a different REO for 10 days with a mix of Alien Visions' and PrimeVaping strawberry, with a much higher VG content. It's still going strong, but I probably only put about 1ml through it per day. With a bottom-feeder like the REO, it's easy to keep the cartos wet, which I imagine contributes to their longevity.

E-Cigs are new technology. They are following the same path as all new technology.

Compare them with cars. In the 1920's when cars were new, there were hundreds of manufacturers, each with a claim that their's was the car to end all cars. There were thousands of novel mechanical attachments you could buy that would make your car do 200 mpg or go 100mph. All of these cars and accessories had thousands of people who supported them. In those days, if you owned a car, you had to be a mechanic to keep it going, even though the manufacturers said you didn't. 90 years on, you can go in a showroom and just drive away, without knowing anything about how a car works.

All sound familiar? E-Cigs will go along hundreds of dead ends until a real consumer product is produced. It all takes time and technology improvements.

At the moment, all you can do is experiment with whats out there and see what suits you, and what you can handle without swearing.

The pictured item looks like it has some sort of packing in it, not just a clear tube?

Yes. It has filler. i don't know what the point of making them clear is. I'm assuming it's cheaper to manufacture and while these are a new product with a fairly high price, they are capitalizing. I received a couple of boxes of clear ones accidentally shipped instead of steel tubes. - They work the same and I haven't melted any. But, it isn't easier to tell if they are getting low on juice because of the filler. I guess it is a little easier to notice when they could use a blow out because you can see the cooked juice begin to collect.

That is a very true statement. What works for you depends on what device you are using, what juice you use with it, and how you use it. Emphasis on "how you use it".

That's why reading and researching really is important. If you understand the basics of the equipment you are using and the contents of your favorite juices.. Then you can usually narrow down what will work best for you. When reading the various reviews and whatnots, try and compare apples to apples... Oranges to oranges. If they don't mention what equipment or juices they are using- ask. Then see how closely it compares to what you are using.

I have decided to retire my first dual-coil carto after 13 days - tonight it was starting to taste funkified. So that comes to about 20 cents a day - I can live with that. And if I decide to wash it out someday, maybe I'll get some more life out if it ;-)
