OK, I haven't asked a question in a long time...so here goes:

I use Joye 510 atomizers (3.0ish ohms, 5 volts). Have hated cartos so far. Now, I'm thinking about trying dual coil cartos (just for driving purposes, you understand ;) ). To those that use or have both:

1) My atties are already dual coil-ish (at least if you dry burn them you see 2 hot spots but could still be 1 coil) and 3.0 ohms.
2) The dual coil cartos are 2x ?3.2? ohm coils (net 1.6 ohms).

So finally, the questions:
A) So am I correct that the dual coil carto is putting more watts into the juice, and it would theoretically vape better - 15.625 watts vs 8.333 watts at 5v (not sure I need "better", but OK)? And this is a good thing?

B) I'll use more amps... like 3.1 amps.....could/would I fry my 5v regulator...

OTOH... maybe I'm only supposed to use them at 3.7. That would make more sense. I have a 14500 nicostick type mod. Do they work well with 14500's (I'm not using IMRs)? Do they have higher ohm duals for 5 v then?

C) is it valid to say 3.7v dual carto = 5v standard atty?

Need advice from the "carto crew". I was going to add to another thread, but I didn't want to hijack it, so .....??????????????

Oh, and before any of you who know about my usual "Just drip" posts lol too loud... this is strictly for driving purposes, yeah... strictly for driving purposes, ya understand......

under the blue sky
1.5 ohm DC @ 5.0v = niiiiccceeee.
1.25 ohm DC @ 3.7v = excellent

What mod do you have? Some 5.0v regulators are amp limited and won't fire the 1.5 ohm DCs. The rest I've seen are rated for 3 amps. Something to keep in mind with the 1.5 ohm DCs is that they are probably ~1.6 ohms out of the box... and full of juice ~1.8-ish ohms. So, you might not be pulling quite the amount of amps you would otherwise think until it starts getting dry.

I don't really know how to answer C. The watts of power are roughly equal, but the experiences are different enough I can't say that's an accurate comparison.

My advice: Buy a pair of 1.25 ohm DCs from hoosier (only place with 1.25s so far) and get a pair of 1.5's from anywhere you want (almost everyone has them). Give them a try and if you don't like them, you're only out eight bucks and shipping charges.

go ahead and try them! you're not gonna rest till you do LOL. when you do order, also get a 5 pk of boge 2.0 cartos also and see how you like them compared to dripping and the dual coils. I was a dripper for a long time and recently fell head over heels for the boge. I did order some 2.0 dual cartos and while they are nice, I like the boge better. I still intend to drip to try out my diy mixes. I use a riva and a hand full of 3.7 box mods, so I have no idea what they would be like at a higher voltage.. But I finally found my sweet spot with the 2.0 boge. (and it's real nice to not to have to time my next drops at the nearest stop sign or hope for a red light) I can't wait to hear your opinions

crystal clear vaping has both the 2.0 boge and the clear dual coils. If you buy from him, be sure to check that you want an alternate pay method and he'll contact you on payment.

when I bought the dual coils, I got the 2.0.. next time I'm going to get the 1.25 since I use 3.7 pvs

Yeah. Thanks for the input so far. It kind of messes with your head.... sounds like you CAN use them on both 5v and 3.7 v setups and would get good results with either. I guess you could say that for the "standard" atty too, but I think you'd get better performance using DCs at 3.7 than a standard at 3.7.

What's the effective difference between using a DC and using a LR 1.5 at 3.7 ? (BTW... I find 1.5 at 3.7 kinda too hot).

I'm using the dual coil SmokTech cartos on a 5v GLV2, and loving them. They will "spit" a little if you take a draw that is too long. But flavor, vapor production, and th are great on my GLV. And if I switch one over to a 3.7v RoughStack or Megalodon, I'm still getting a good vape, if a bit weaker in flavor, vapor, than on the GLV2.

hey Pops, i'm with you on the dripping... I got past the difficulties after I got frustrated with bottom feeders... and of course the regulated power pv's came out and perfect for dripping.
There are some regulated power feeder pv's on the horizon, but 6ml of only one kind of juice is not my thing.

I too got interested in cartos after hearing from people about the DC's... and i picked up some more Iken Fusions (801)... I got a couple 1.6 DC's from MadVapes too...

So far there seem to be a lot of Provari and Darwin users who use carto's anyway, but amp limited differences makes for a lot of confusion here on those... maybe the 2.5 dc is the way to go, although the new Buzz will handle LR...

Not answering your questions here, just chiming in because i'm in a similar boat, and anything "NEW" catches my interest.
It does seem to me a regulator mod; like 4 or 5v would be ideal for the LR DC's....
My experience with them on an eGo or even my Vari at low low volts is.... not bad --- and that's good given my impression of cartos in general.
I also intend to use them for driving only, especially since i don't have a non-amp limited 4 to 5v pv/mod....yet. :)
