so whats better a kayfun or a carto tank?

also on the kayfun its not a tight draw but it takes forever to fill my lungs with vapor, any way to improve this? i have a kayfun lite plus and ive taken the screw for the air control out and ive loosed it and it honestly makes no difference. i want to fill my lungs in less than 5 seconds like you can with a dripper, filling y lungs with a kayfun takes upwards to 13 to 16 seconds and it gets tough after awhile. anyone have a solution to my problem?

I have not used a Kayfun. I am a cartotank user.

Given correct wicking, coilng and a compatible juice a Kayfun should produce more vapor than a properly set up cartotank.

A cartotank provides a larger quantity of vapor than the quantity of smoke I used to get from smoking cigarettes. That is plenty of vapor to keep me happy. I don't need/want to blow clouds. What also keeps me with Smok single coil cartos and IBTanked carto tanks is the simplicity and no-fuss nature of carto tank vaping. No leaks ever. I top off the tank with juice once a day and replace the carto and clean the tank once every 7-10 days.

As Yzer stated, a properly coiled and wick Kayfun will out perform any carto any day of the week. But it also depends on the device you are using it on.

If you don't have an airflow control on the Kayfun, it must be and older style that doesn't have the set screw, so no... There no way to control the draw. Where did you get the Kayfun and do you know the version?

My Kayfuns on a mech or DNA30 will give me a good mouth to lung fill in about three seconds.

You really can't drill out a KFL+ very far... in the sense that you can enlarge the inlet, remove the AFC screw and fit a big(er) bore drip tip... but you're limited by ending up with a "stack of threads" if you drill the positive block screw out too far. Obtaining the twin inlet version of the KFL+ is a bit of an improvement... but still not an RDA, IMO.

The highest flow tank RBA I've ever used is the Gus Estia, which, so far, is about as close to a RDA as a RTA can get... but there are no clones, so if you can't swing $160, it may be a wait for the China forgery.

An alternate... is a deep reservoir RDA, like a Magma, Origen - or my personal favorite, the near leak proof iHybrid Veritas, or it's clone.

Depends on what you do with your KF. The only difference between my KF (with the way I have it set up) and my carto tanks are the KF has a lighter draw and never clogs up.

Now if you want to compare it to my drippers, that's a different story. I would really have to de-tune my drippers to make them vape like my KF or carto tanks.

ive thought about drilling it out but i dont have a drill press. i also dont want to ruin it as that would be 20$ down the drain and money is a little tight at the moment.

I've drilled out both the base air inlet hole and the center screw holes, on the side and down through the center. I didn't use a drill press even though I have access to one. If you have sharp drills it isn't that hard.

I used a 5/64 for the air inlet and a #52 then a #51 drill bit for the center screw. More Reaming than drilling. Just go slow with some oil on the bit and in the holes. Then you'll need to take it all apart and clean it if you haven't disassembled it already.

Also I've found that you need to lift the coil off the air hole by about 3 MM or so. I also run my coil at an angle
    -\-
to the coil mounting screws and that let in more air.

I started off with 1mm off the airhole. then 1.5 and now 2.0mm. my next build I'm going higher since I've gotten a progression of improvement. I'm trying to find that sweet spot.

Please keep in mind lung hits DO NOT provide satisfying amounts of vapor in a setup that doesn't have the airflow to support them. For instance, try lung hitting a stock clearomizer (ie: Protank 2) and then try a mouth to lung hit. You get much more vapor with a much easier pull. Lung hitting tight airflow devices is exhausting and pointless.

Kayfuns (out-of-the-box at least) are intended for mouth to lung hits. Hit a Kayfun like you would hit a cigarette. I am more than satisfied with my Kayfun Lite Plus V2 on my DNA30 device and I work in the vape industry. Not every device is for everyone, though.

Running my kafun at 1 ohm on newly charged battery would be like 17w. That's enough to fill my lungs, with mouth to lung hits.
In like 4-5 secs max. Longer hit than that and i'll start to cough. :p

What ohm do you build your coils on and what device are you using?
I agree that the airflow on kayfun are bad, i'm a mouth to lung but i still want an airy draw.

I've a v2 kayfun on my way here, i hope that it's improvent on the airflow. :)

I have a KFL+ and have not been real impressed with it. When it works, it gives massive clouds, but it's hit or miss. I then purchased a 22mm carto from IBTanked. After getting it primed properly the first time I took about 4 sec lung hit and BAMM...that was all I needed. That, and the flavor was much more clean and pronounced. My vote is for the cartomizer hands down!!

Sounds like you have too much wicking material and your coil could also be set too low especially if you have no airflow control screw since you said you lost it , my Kayfun light plus is a very easy and airy draw even on my MVP .

Try less wick and raise the coil , i recommend anywhere from 1.5 -1.8 ohm with 28 gauge for the Kayfun , tons of vapor and taste.
