I prefer to "prep" my cartomizers for my tanks the same way that I would fill them if I were not going to use them in a tank. A useful tip I came up with is while dripping into the top of the carto, place a wooden tooth pic into the air hole to prevent any juice from accidentally going in there.

The secret of using cartotanks is delivering the proper amount of juice from the tank to the wicking material inside of the cartomizer. This is accomplished via holes in the lower portion of the cartomizer. You could punch your own holes to save a couple of bucks, but for a beginner I recommend that you purchase cartomizers that already have holes in them for the tank setup. This will allow consistancy and takes a big portion of human error out of the equation.

I get my laser-drilled cartomizers in this link Single Coil XL Tank Cartomizer for the SmokTank XL

but many other online vendors sell them as well as the dual coil variety. I happen to prefer single coil cartomizers for many reasons that I won't go into here. I would order a quantity of both single and two holes. Depending upon the viscosity of the juice you use, the single holes work well with normal thickness 50/50 pg/vg juices. For thicker juices of greater than 60% vg, I use the two hole cartos. Be sure to also order the correct resistance for the battery that you will be using: low, standard, or high.

I also highly recommend that you purchase the tank accessory tool in the below video from Big Daddy Vapor http://bigdaddyvapor.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13&products_id=52.

PBusardo demonstrates how to fill and assemble a cartomizer tank using the SYM tool.

I punch the cart fill the condom insert the threaded end in to the condom. this has dual propose. It also lubs the cart for inserting it into the tank besides filling it. After you put the cart in the tank use your drip tip and give'er a blow and fill the tank and your vaping for Hours!
You need to fill the cart and tank befor you start vaping

With ours we are having good and bad luck. One carto will bubble air out the holes just fine the next one will do nothing. Even after trying several times trying different things to get the juice to go into the carto it just wont work. So the $2.00 carto that works actually costs $4.00 because the one before it didn't work. Had this trouble with about 6 of them so far.

Not filling it but after it is filled dose the juice go from the tank to the carto on its own
My recommendation is to pre-fill the carto prior to putting it into the tank. Once you put the carto 3/4 of the way into the tank, fill the tank with juice.

Once both tank and carto are filled with juice, the sucking action of taking a draw from the cartomizer will cause more juice to go from the tank into the carto, to be replaced by an air bubble from the vacuum created inside the tank.

It should feed on its own It takes a little time to learn like most of the stuff we do It depends on you. If you dray very hard you might need to punch 3 holes. I use 2 holes. Some people use 1 hole. Your PG VG ratio makes a difference also. If you fill the cart and fill the tank and your vaping for awhile then you start to get the slightest hint of a dry hit. give it a couple of no power draws. I dont always see the bubbles but Ive got a system down that works for me. If you flood it can be because you burnt or punctured the center tube. If you jank up your top o ring and it doesn't seal right that can make you flood also.
Its not to hard youll get it down in no time. Tanks are great once you have it down its pretty much no hassle.
