Holmes, iw works great with CE2, well my does thats for sure.
Question for ya...when using cartomators with CE2s, whether tall or short, do you do the same and just poke 1 hole in the tube towards the bottom and just not fill the tank all the way full, so the coil cup doesn't get flooded? I'm not sure how to use the tank with CE2s...thanks!

If everything works out like it should on the tubes, there will be plain tubes in all 3 finishes in both sizes and eventually some tubes with designs in the opposite finish of the tube. (Satin design on shiny/brushed tubes and shiny designs on Satin tubes) I'm still perfecting that, so the first tubes will be basic finishes with the design ones ramping up slowly. Beveled Caps will be available in all 3 finishes.

Cool beans. An artiste as well! For us Provari guys, it would be kinda cool if you made designs that match the design endcaps they have for the 18490 batts. In any case, skulls, spiders and spider webs are always welcome. Interested to see what you can come up with. Maybe some of our resident artists can help you out with some designs, sort of like a tattoo outline, unless you're getting more intricate than that. These will be real collectors pieces I think. Cool idea!

Don't put holes too high.....You don't want to hit the cup or the gasket. So on an XL, maybe one pair of holes midway and another pair low, near the cap. Go a little bigger too. CE2's require alot of juice to get up those wicks.

Cool, will keep that in mind thanks! So for all the others, TC, DC, single coil, XL and regular, are you now recommending just one slightly larger hole down low just above where the carto rises above the inside of the cap? Or do you recommend different hole placement and number of holes for different cartos? I saw where Drew said you recommended one hole, I just wanted to make sure you meant for all cartos (aside from CE2). Response is not urgent so enjoy your weekend! If you could, please experiment with some regular size Kangers(horizontal coil)...I didn't have much luck with those either with one or two holes punched down low. Iken 801 Fusion and 510s are working very well though as are those über-dependable Boges.

Haha, no the artistic side of the operation is my wife. She is a really talented airbrusher (Don't even ask....she is booked until June 2012 and only does high-end vehicle work)
I ask for a spider and web, she freehands it all and makes a cutout template for me in about 15 minutes! I so wish I had that talent. Then I either fill in the areas with Super Glue as my mask or have her make me a reverse image, so that the acid etch and the media treatment only go where you want them. Here is my GLV3 with spider/web. Hard to get a good pic of it though!

The designs I have already figured on: Spiders, webs, skulls, hearts, and butterflies to start.

Cartos all have their own characteristics and therefore the hole size and layout does vary sometimes.
Boges have been working really well with just one larger hole. It seems to have stopped the issue of burning carto syndrome.
It seems to be working well on DC's also. The Fusion has a thread devoted to carto tank use in IKV's forum and they might have better answers than I do on it.

Got my cartomater! Woo! Very nice build, I gotta say, but a question: is there a simple way to fill this puppy aside from drilling a fill port? Trying to pull off the top cap resulted in the carto coming clean out of the bottom with it. Wonder if it came upside down? Or can I stick a syringe through the caps and fill it that way without doing damage?

You don't need to pull off the top-cap. There's an easier way:

Yeah, that method is soooo much easier. The caps are such a tight fit I don't even bother removing them at all, anymore. I like the tight fit, anyway. My other non-Cartomator tank is loose and periodically gives me problems either slipping off the carto or one of the caps coming off in my pocket . . . but with three Cartomators in my arsenal that one doesn't see much use nowadays, anyway :p
