I have run some testing in the last week and tried to make the tubes do the same thing that yours did Vega. Mainly by soaking them in some harsh juices like AC, citrus based and straight menthols along with some other strong household liquids. After 3-4 days of soaking, I did manage to destroy/melt a few tubes out of 16 sample tubes (2 of each color) but none ended up leaching any color at all.
I think it had to be just a fluke thing imho.

The idea that was suggested to me was that it would be possible and likely that the VG could be cut with an alcohol at some level to increase the viscosity and throat hit, and it does seem less goofy that usual. Try soaking a tube in some vodka, if you have it laying around, and tell me if anything fun happens.

Polycarbonate is not resistant to alcohol at all. It's why I tell everyone, don't clean or soak your tubes in Isopropyl. It will destroy it. Not positive if a diluted portion of vodka would do it, but it certainly could ruin it. Not sure if it will leach the color out of it. It's possible though, I would imagine.

First look at the upcoming Beveled or "Slant" Cap option. Other than strpr's original of course! Not sure if it will be sold per cap or actually on an assembled tank or both yet. Since some just want a top cap and some want both beveled.

It would be great if all the components were available ala carte. You'd probably actually sell a higher net volume of components that way, since people wouldn't have to purchase an entirely new tank, just to change up colors. I suppose it would make inventory maintenance a bit more problematic, however.

OK, I just caught wind of the brass tank as a possible option - put me down for some! It would be a stretch but I'm thinking I'd get three or four, preferably with beveled or rounded edges. Think I'd go for brass drip tips too, but only if fuller-bodied - think ming or vase shaped (not a big fan of the straight or pawn shapes).

I am NOT drooling right now.

Ordinarily I probably wouldn't put out that kind of dosh for run-of-the-mill tanks but CG, you do outstanding work and brass would just be over the top for a steampunk vibe. However, any volume or Veteran discounts will be noted and appreciated, sir.

How does everyone feel about brass-plating vs solid brass? It looks exactly the same. Much more durable (i.e. no pitting although it can still tarnish), completely safe (i.e. no lead content, solid brass has about 3 parts per 1000), certainly cheaper (current price on 3/4" brass rod is $34 per foot, SS is about $15) and much lighter depending on the metal I plate over.
I have thought about this alot and I do love machining solid brass. It is a beautiful metal to work with and is mesmerizing to cut. But I can't get past the lead content. As small as it is. Even deleaded brass is only lead-free on the very top surface.. the distance of about 3 human hairs. Any scratch to it, ruins that area of deleaded surface.

I'd be cool with plated. Like you say, it would still look the same and be cheaper. Either way you wind up doing it I'm definitely in for one ;-)

It's always possible with solid brass.I really don't know. I will say that solid brass has been ruled out. Just too many potential issues.
With Brass plating, the juice contact area of the cap could always be left unplated or plated differently to avoid any potential taste issues. Plus I don't think it would be an issue with plating anyway.

Plated works for me, as long as it's thick enough to wear well. That "cheaper" thing is kind of cool, too. Lighter is OK but I really don't think I'd mind a little heft if it came to that.

All I can say for now, is that we have already been working hard toward additional finish options early next year

Well, the cartomators are definitely durable . . . I just dropped mine while filling it. This particular carto is a really tight fit and while pushing it back in the tank slipped and shot out of my hand, bouncing off the sink, hitting the toilet and then the floor quite hard (I kid you not it was like a ricocheting bullet in some Looney Toons short in speed and distance). Everything is still intact and looks like nothing happened, though my first thoughts were "crap did the cap pop off?" and "crap, did I crack the tube?", but my fears were unfounded. The only damage was the drip tip snapped off in the carto

I know these tubes are very thick, much more so than some other vendor's tubes, but it was quite a beating it took and not a scratch on it
