Do cartomizers burn out like atomizers?

If I use a ego with a 501 LR (1.7) cartomizer...
is it similar to an atomizer that the current amp will be to high and could just burnout the cartomizer?

it was said an atomizer can burn out between 1.5amps -2.0 amps
same to cartomizers?

Definitely, although the filler and diaper (piece of cotton wrapped around the coil) will be burnt before that even happens.

An atomizer won't burn out with 1.5-2 amps. Depending on your set-up but, since your using an ego battery. Then the switch will be rated at 2 amps. So, if you use a set-up that uses more amperage for power. You risk blowing the switch. For example, if your using a 1.5 ohm carto on an ego/3.4V. Then the amps will be 2.27. If you use a 1.7 ohm carto then it will be exactly 2 amps.

so i should stay away from 1.6 and below

It would be a good idea to stay away from anything lower then 1.7 ohms. Which will draw an amperage higher then what an ego would allow.
