Hi all,

Enjoying my 5V mod but cartomizers burn out quickly. I've seen mention of 501 atomizers and do have an adapter for them. But maybe I'm using the wrong 808 cartomizers.

Which empty cartomizers do you guys use when vaping with 5V that don't burn out in like 3 hours? Not just 501 vs 808 but brands? I need to order some like today, as mine are all burning out and I need to get a bunch.

Thanks!

Kr8 cartomizers are designed for use at 3.7V. I don't know of any HV Kr8 cartos. The newer high-vapor lines of cartos (e.g., V4L's Premium and Wow, VaporNine's Turbo, and CigEasy's Gold Label) probably are lower resistance (to achieve that improved vapor) than the traditional Kr8s. So if you are using them, try the traditional ones and see if they do better at 5V. Or just use the high-vapor cartos on the standard 3.7V Kr8 battery (or on the 750 mAh Elegant, which, I believe is slightly less than 3.7V).

As for 510 cartomizers, I leave that to Kent [and to SKYYcamel, who I see has also wisely contributed to this answer].

As far as 510 carto's go, DO NOT buy the SLB 510 carto's for HV usage. The SLB's are the ones with the copper colored connection. The can't handle HV. They tasted burnt from the first puff in my experience with them. Get the Boge carto's silver connection). They are available at LiteCig, AltSmoke and Clouds of Vapor. I'm sure more vendors have them, but these are the only ones I'm sure of. As far as 808 carto's go, I use VaporNine Turbos and V4L CoolCarts and thet do GREAT at HV. :vapor:

My 'perfect' 510 cartomizer for my 5 volt Bartleby is the 510 'mega' cartomizer from Nhaler and also available at cloudsofvapor.com. It is rated 3.4 ohms and with 5 volts that gets you in the 7.35Watt range - not to hot for burning out filler and enough to give great vapor and flavor.

I use a drip tip on these cartoz and refill by simply dripping into the carto from the drip tip. They DO have a center channel, like the KR8's so you want to fill on an angle. And with almost any cartomizer esp., you don't want it to burn dry so at the first sign of a loss of flavor, refill it and doing that I've had some last weeks - dozens of refills. I don't wash or clean cartoz so you might get more by doing that. These get real 'wheezy' when it's time to change them out. So far I've cut three of them in half after they were done and there was no 'burn holes' and only light singeing around the atty.
