cartomizer help needed

I just got cartomizers today and so far I totally love them. I have read several forum discussion on them and it seems that the worst thing you can do is let the cartomizer burn dry. All the advice says to top them off as you use them.

Here is my question. I am a newbie and I am worried that I won't know when to top off my cart. If the flavor starts to fade should I add more then? Is there any way to really know how much is in the cart. I don't want it to burn dry, but I also don't want to waste my liquid because I have put too much in.

I filled it initially with about 1ml of liquid because that was what the supplier recommended. I used a syringe to fill it, leaving the cap on the atomizer end while filling. If I top it off, do I do the same thing? How much do I put in then?

I know this is probably common knowledge for most of you and my questions may sound ridiculous. But I love this cartomizer and do not want to ruin it my first time out. (and yes, I may be a little paranoid because I have already made many mistakes during my learning process).

If it makes a difference, I am using a 510 pass through and vaping non stop! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You're gonna have to develop a feel for when you need more juice. Normally the flavor will fall off when more juice is needed. I'd pop off the cap so I could see the level of the juice. I usually use the condom fill method or drip directly into the top of the carto. Just insure you don't burn it dry and you'll develop the feel.
