Cartomizer Help Please!!

Hey guys,

I bought a smok Tech Bolt about a year and a half ago. Its been sitting around for a while and I am looking to change the cartomizer. Ive been looking for some type of indication on the cartomizer that came with it whether or not it is a single or dual coil or what ohm I need. I have the extender on it and its run by 2 18350 batteries. The place I bought it from states that it should be making around 6-7 volts on their website. I bought one cartomizer last year but instantly had a burnt taste on the first few uses and threw it out. I was wondering if anyone knows what cartomizer I should be looking at?? From the descriptions I read on their website I think I need a single coil 3 ohm cartomizer but I'm not sure. Also what are some good tanks to use?? Any help is appreciated!!

I do NOT recommend stacking 18350s in an all mechanical mod. I feel it is important to give you a heads up that, unless you know what you are doing, stacking batts in a purely mechanical mod is NOT something a newbie should be doing. Actually, it is not even necessary because with a 18650 single batt you can get a very good vape using a low resistance carto.

You may want to read up here, what I said about battery safety and the Bolt. It is all mechanical. You have zero protections in the event you put a shorted carto on there, except the vent hole, there is no circuitry to shut down, and stacking batteries in a smok tech Bolt is not recommended by anyone I can think of.


If you do not understand what cartos to buy, I am somewhat concerned that you are stacking batts in a purely mechanical mod (no offense)....I surely hope you know enough about battery safety to understand keeping them in pairs, and monitoring them very carefully, and have a good multimeter to check everything with at least?

Why aren't you just using a single 18650 battery in there?

I know there were 2 versions sold, one by MVS that takes a 18650, and the only other one I know takes a 18490/18500 and the extender allows you to use a 18650 batt.

Meanwhile, stick w/single coil cartos. If you want a better vape, please unstack your batteries and just go with a single low resistance coil carto. Steve uses his cartos punched, in a carto tank. That is a set up you might consider since you don't have to keep feeding the carto, the tank will feed it thru the holes in the carto instead.

Please don't stack batteries. It's not safe (unless you really know how to do it, and even then, it's still not safe). And you can't use a 3Ω carto on 6 volts--it will burn instantly at 12 watts...

Put a safe chemistry (I like AW IMR) 18650 battery in your mod and stick to 3.7v.

There is no way to tell by just looking if you have a single or dual coil carto; however, if it's rated 1.5 or 1.7Ω. it may be a clue that it's a dual coil, but not necessarily. You need to know the resistance of your cartomizer before you put it on a mechanical mod.

Thank you for your help! When I got this 2 years ago I had no clue what I was doing and I still don't really... When I went to my local vaping shop, this was the setup they gave me. I will definitely look into getting a single battery. I had no clue how dangerous the dual battery set up was. I appreciate the help!
