Hi all -- Can't yet post to blu section so I'll do so here :) I've had my blu for about 5 weeks now, no regular tobacco use. Seems to be a good starter device. Battery life stinks, but I assume if I want to chain-vape I'll need another model. I'll be looking into one soon.

My question, I bought some Tasty Vapor and have been refilling. Probably 20%VG/80%PG mix (bought all PG from Tasty). I do admittedly vape the heck out of these things -- chain vape. I only seem to get a day, day and a half out of a cart before it quits working all that well. Does that seem about right? I can't say how many refills as I tend to top it off. Just seems like they should last a little longer.

I bought blu as the local Sheetz sells the refills. So getting new carts isn't an issue, but at $14 for 5 carts this could get pricey.

Maybe refill tips? Don't use to soon? Let sit with threads down? Up? Not sure how to extend their life.

Thanks!

How do you first fill them?

I was just going to ask that. I assume I need to fill before I even use them fresh out of the box? Since I buy them pre-filled from Sheetz (I've been buying Cherry Crush as it tends to let other flavors through easily), how do I go about making sure they'll be good to go for longer than I've been getting out of them?

Not to be insulting but pre filled cartos are not very good. Remove carto from battery. Stick a round toothpick in the air passage at the mouth end. Drip juice in until the top looks "slushie". Takes a few minutes to be absorbed into the filler/ stuffing. If one drop comes out the battery end it's filled. Wipe off the batt end and blow lightly from the mouth end through the cartos to remove any excess juice and wipe batt end with paper towel. Vape away.

If they don't look "slushie" at the top/ mouth end it's prolly a good idea to top them up.

I assumed they weren't very good but it's for convenience sake -- carts right down the street rather than online. Wanted to check out the whole e-cig thing before buying a better model.

Should I add juice before using a new pre-filled cart?

Yes on the first fill I use the condom method but for refills I use the toothpick to keep the juice out of the air passage and away from the heating coils and to not block the air passage as it would have to be cleared/ blown out which is a waste and a pain in the @#$%!

All right, this is helpful so far. And what's the point of the tooth pick? I have an eyedropper bottle w/ sharp tip I use to mix juices. I'm pretty accurate with the drops. Just to make sure the air tube doesn't get juice in it?

Maybe, maybe not. It is very hard and important to fill the batt end of the stuffing. My carto takes 60 drops and I just refilled it with 40+ drops. Many start with the standard size cartos and then eventually move up to the large size cartos because there's less filling.

I've been blowing from the threaded batt end to clear out excess juice from mouth end. Might be the reason the carts are failing so soon.

You're welcome. If you do ever decide to buy blank cartos Bogs are reputable quality. Glad it worked out for you. Just remeber to top it up. I'm guessing your carto takes approx. 20 drops. If you are not in a rush and want to save juice you can even stand it up/ battery end down and put a condom on the bottom and the juice will drip into it.
Happy Vaping, Vapoor.

Just filled till I had juice coming out the batt end. Blew it out and wiped clear. Vaping like a charm. Thanks!

I used Blu for several months, and the most i could get out of the blu cartos was 2-3 refills before they started to die off. it was pretty frustrating. The Volcano cartomizers fit and work perfectly with Blu batteries, they come in better flavors, and i could fill them up 7-8 times before tossing them. The only downside is that the caps are hard plastic and break easily, so i used the caps from blu cartos when they broke.

Be careful if you use the toothpick method as the center tube can come out easily and can be difficult to get back in.

After a few months of fiddling with blu/volcano setup, I upgraded to an ego.

Good luck.

Some Prefilled cartos don't work great when their refilled, but not all.
I would def recommend getting some Boge 3.0ohm cartos which will allow you to fill your own and use the 1000s of juices available. They will also give a better vape than prefilleds and will last longer too.
Make sure though you only use standard resistance cartos on the Blu bc low resistance attys and cartos are only for bigger battery PVs. If your using an auto battery make sure you clean all the juice on the threaded end well and make sure the airhole doesn't have any juice in it that could possibly leak out. It's pretty easy to kill an auto battery if you have a juice leak. Most people prefer manual batteries bc their sealed so a small juice leak won't kill he battery and also because you have alot more control over your vape.
I would def consider getting something with a bigger battery. Check out the Riva, kGo, and Epower. Their all 3.7V and have 510 connections. The eGo is also popular but I prefer the 3.7V PVs bc the eGo is only 3.3-3.4V. Also the 3.7V handle the real low resistance cartos better, like 1.5 and 1.7ohms. They are all similar in price and size and will give a great vape. The battery life will be a LOT better and you'll be able to use LR cartos if you want, most people prefer them, they give a warmer vape and more TH. I have an Epower and love it. The Epower uses non-proprietary batteries while the Riva/kGo/eGo uses proprietary batteries. That was one of the things I really liked when trying to decide which one. Epower batts cost $4-5 while eGo/Riva/kGo batts cost $14-20, plus they last longer. Also everything is replaceable on the Epower so it's alot cheaper to maintain.
I think you'd be happy with any of them though and they will all be a big difference from the Blu.
I use the Ressurector cartos and they are awesome, and they hold alittle over 2ml of juice so they last a long time before you need a refill. They need to be filled correctly and you don't want to let them get dry, but when their used properly they last a long time. I avg 2-4 weeks on one Ressurector
