I'm new to this and have noticed that in some cases I get a crackling and steaming sound when vaping, similar to using a steam iron. This doesn't really bother me but I'm wondering what is going on. I assumed it was the carto (I'm filling myself) but I can move the same carto to another battery (different supplier) and not get that sound. I am using lower resistance cartos at this point, based on what I've read on this site. What gives?

sounds like you are using an un sealed automatic battery, and a bit of juice has gotten into the battery. Usually a few knocks on your leg or table (not too hard) will free the trapped drop or two.. Its a risk you take using autos but much less so than with a 510.
This happens to me using both of my manual batteries. I've been through 5 carots and about 20 refills and they all crackle and pop. I don't really like the noise as it draws attention.
Hi Lisa: I have tried four different cartos with my Kr808s and the only ones that pop and crackle are the V4L ones. And mainly on the V4L batteries. This does not bother me: in fact I kind of like the feeling that crackling produces in my mouth. And after refilling the V4L cartos several times, the crackling stops on mine. I think it is because I use mainly VG, but I do not know this for sure.

I LOVE the crackle and sizzle. I agree that it often means a good hit. Somehow that has become a big part of the appeal for me, and I always feel like something is missing when I don't hear it, even if everything else about that drag has been perfect.
Same here. When that goes away I usually think the carto is getting dry. I top off and the world is right again...
I notice it all the time with my 5V pass-through. I prefer using my 808 cartos open--without a cap or drip tip, and I've learned (the hard way) to push the button and wait a sec for this one consistent POP! before putting it in my mouth.
Its the vertical coil design cartos that do this. Horizontal coil cartos are dead silent, in comparison, but the instant mouthful of warm vapor makes u shure its working....
Not that I have a lot of experience, however I rarely get that crackle & pop with my White Cloud cartomizers except with a freshly charged battery & a new carto. I do have a generic brand KR808-D battery I got from HG, and the cheaper cartos I got with that does the crackle pop thing all the time. Another cheaper e-cig also made these noises.
