I just bought a Metal Dual 510 Cartomizer Tankfrom Altsmoke (AltSmoke.com | Metal Dual 510 Cartomizer Tank - Color - Tanks - Cart/Rebuildable - Accessories | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs |.) After I filled and primed it, I screwed it onto my battery and noticed it was hard to screw on as it kept turning. Then I saw that there was play in the cartomizer - it sticks out about 1/8" on the top of the tank, and the tank itself slides up and down (see photos.) So the tank slides up and stops when it hits the larger part of the drip tip.

Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? I never have screwing on issues with my Vivi tanks, so just wondering what to do here. Thanks.

thats normal. the tank is supposed to slide up and down unless you have some type of locking mech. on it. you may want to try some new orings(slightly fatter) to try to snug it down since it looks like it moves pretty easily, but as long as its not leaking, i dont see a problem with it. on one of my loose tanks, i ran a very small zipty at the top, just under the drip tip to keep things in place while it was in my pocket at work.

Thanks kuritaro9. I've used wick style tanks for so long now, thought I'd give the carto tank a shot and I wasn't used to the difficulty screwing on and the play. It doesn't leak, but screwing it on is harder than I'm used to and taking it off is even harder without the carto sliding out while I'm doing it, and that did cause minor leakage. But I'm glad to know it's normal, so thanks to all who replied!

i hear ya. the tanks i have that dont have the flat flange at the bottom to grab the cart can be a PITA to snug down. i usually slide the tank up, and use a precision wrench to barely snug it down( i hate the slop of the loose carto) forget what size i used, but i ended up using a jewlers file to make it a little bit of a loose fit.

Sorry, now I'm a little confused. I do have a carto like the one in DaveP's picture above, with the metal base above the screw-on larger than the carto circumference itself, with two straight sides. So maybe I already have a flange? I checked out the links you sent kuritaro9, but I don't see the difference. Is the base of the tank designed to fit the straight sides so there is no spin? How does it lock in on those models so I don't have the play, and I can screw it on easy? Is it locked in near the drip tip or near the screw-on base? And how would the pot belly drip tip help? I have a bunch of drip tips here, and tried a few of them with the same results, since it's the carto that seems too long by about 1/8", and the drip tip fits inside the carto, not over it. The tank won't slide all the way off the carto, because the drip tip that came with it stops the tank once it hits the drip tip base. It still just seems like the carto is the wrong size for the tank, but that's what came with it.

on the bootom of the tank, instead of having a circle machined into the metal or
plastic, they left 2 flat spots to allow the carto to sit in. while the flat spots of the carto are inline with the flat spot on the tank, it allows you to snug down the tank a little easier since you can grab the lower part of the tank itself to turn it.the pics kinda suck, and i didnt find out about them until i ordered 1 metal and 1 plastic one. the plastic one had the flange, but the metal one didnt. the metal one can be a PITA to tighten down whereas the plastic one is a breeze.

Awesome, that's what I thought you meant. I'm going to order that (the plastic one), cuz I really do like the vape from the carto tank. It seems "cleaner", if that makes sense. I used the Vivi Nova's for a long time, then I discovered the Innokin iClear 30's, but in GrimmGreens review, he's always going on and on about how the carto tanks are the best, so that's why I bought this one. Just not crazy about the play in it, and screwing it on and off, but the vape is really good. Thanks again for your help. I'm clear now, gonna catch some ZZZZ's. Good night/morning.
