Oh hai,

I just got a small DCT2 carto tank, along with a smok carto, in which my local B&M shop guy, basically made 2 holes in. Not punched, but using a saw. It started out good, all went fine, taste and vapor was great a long with throat hit.

I got home, was nearly out of juice in the carto. Tried to fill up, and then it happened... First, got some juice in my mouth from i suppose to much juice? Then it started to taste burnt after a few puffs.

What gives? How to fix and what to do? Im gonna go back to the shop tomorrow probably.. But any tips and help is more than welcome.

Its a 1.5ohm dual coil carto on a an ego-twist.

You have either flooded the cartomizer with too much juice in it (juice in your mouth), or the cartomizer doesn't have enough juice in it causing the vapor to taste burnt. My guess is the carto is ruined at this point.

When you refilled your tank, did you remove the top cap to add juice, or did you slide the carto down thru the tank and add your juice between the top cap's hole?

Removing the top cap to fill a tank causes too much pressure inside the tank when you replace the top cap, causing the carto to become flooded. When this happens, you can try doing 2-3 "pre-burns" (power the battery for a couple of seconds before gently vaping) in attempt to vaporize the excess juice. More than likely, though, the carto is trashed and will need to be replaced.

In addition, when adding juice to either the carto or the tank, you need to make certain NOT to get any in the cartomizer's center air hole. I plug the air hole with part of a wooden tooth pick to avoid this.

Burnt taste is likely from too dry of a carto. I often will "top off" the cartomizer whenever I add more juice to a tank. Once you burn the filler material in a carto there's nothing you can do to remove the burnt taste. The carto is ruined and needs to be replaced.

I don't recommend either slotting cartomizers or punching holes with a carto punch tool. Both methods can damage the fragile o-rings that are in the holes of the end caps of the tank. They are what hold on to the cartomizer when the tank is in place, and keep the tank from leaking its contents. Slotting carto's leave a sharp edge where the slot is that can cut the o-rings. Likewise, punched carto's cause the carto to change shape from round to oval, causing unnecessay wear and tear on the o-rings. Laser-drilled carto's can be purchased and have neither of these two issues and wick juice just as well.

You can purchase laser drilled carto's from any of the vendors in this list that I have compiled:

I also recommend you purchase a tank accessory tool to further protect your o-rings:

I did not remove the top caps, just the drip tip and slid down the carto a bit to get some wiggle room.
I think I got a bit of juice in my mouth. Also when I blow on the carto from the top, while it is inserted etc., then juice comes out down at the threads. And I managed to blow out a whole tank of juice.

At some point I also noticed there was some juice leaking on the battery thread connection, where the battery meets the carto, that centre part.

Bad tank?
Should I go down to the shop and ask for a replacement or refund?
