Hi all,

Sorry if this topic has been brought up before. There's so much info on this forum it's hard to parse. I appreciate your patience if this has been asked a million times before.

On to my question. :)

With great anticipation, I received my VaporKing this AM. A bit of background, I started vaping with a Gammuchi disposable, moved to a #7, and just now upgraded to a VaporKing per references from folks @ ECF who have been at this longer than I have been.

I have *zero* complaints about the VaporKing itself or the customer service of Vapor4Life. It was a trouble free transaction, and I very much enjoyed the freebies I received. The VaporKing is lovely and I think it looks a hundred times cooler than my old #7.

The problem is this: I watched all of the videos about how to properly use the KR808, how to fill a carto, etc... I have 15 different flavors of prefilled cartos, and I also ordered blanks to fill with V4L juice.

Other than the flavor 'green tea', the other 14 flavors taste funky and burnt to me. I did not expect this because the flavors I picked were 5 star rated. Please know, I understand there is a ton of subjectivity when it comes to flavor preference. You expect as a customer that you're going to like some flavors better than others. I didn't expect every flavor to taste like burnt plastic. Clearly, I'm doing something wrong here.

Here's how I've loaded each carto:

1. Remove from box and take off the wrapping and 'condoms'. Make sure I remove the little 'plug'.
2. Hold carto up to light to make sure I can see through it and it's good to go.
3. Screw onto manual battery.
4. Press manual battery button for a second as I raise the unit to take a drag.
5. Take 3-4 second drag. (anything more seems to burn my throat.)
6. Wait 20-30 seconds and repeat.
7. Hear loud popping sound in cartomizer and taste nasty burnt plastic smell by second drag.
8. Reload with new flavor.
9. Try again.
10. Get frustrated. ;)

What am I doing wrong here? I'd swear to you that Wowboy, Chocolate, Coffee, 555, Coconut, and a slew of others are all the same taste: burnt.

Please help me out so I don't burn through all of my cartos. My understanding is that once they are burnt, they are toast. Spent too much money to blow through 75 cartos in one day.

Thanks guys. I appreciate any advice.

I don't usually Vape cartomizers much but I remember sometimes getting that burnt taste with some carts. As far as I know its one of those miss or hit things. If they are refilled ones they could have been sitting longer. I found that filling cartos myself worked a lot better bit just make sure if you fill them to let it air for a bit to fully absorb. I've had cartos that is be Vaping and liquid would go it to the auto bats which causes an even biggerproblem. Hope this helps a little. But I'm sure you will be able to find more info.

Ok..here's the skinny: Your taste Bugs (Buds to those of you who are not 4 years old) are revolting..LOL
Some lose thier taste altogether..some need to bump up the flavor with Lorann's flavor or other types and some like you just seem to taste burnt flavor. It won't last. Step back and try again ..make sure your battery is charged..make sure you give the carto a gentle blow out from the mouth end into a tissue if you filled it yourself.
Also you may be drawing into too hard..gentle and steady does it.
Good luck and wait for somebody who knows what they are talking about..lol!

I think everyone deals with different ecigs differently. I just dealt with what I knew at the time. Anyways keep looking for more ideas cause as long as u can still find the motivation to Vape it'll be well worth it.

Well Newbz, it certainly sounds like your are doing everything correctly. I am a little confused on No. 8, "Reload with new flavor", can you elaborate a little more on that. Just to have a little more info, what kind of batts (XL, Reg, Shorty) are you using? We'll get this figured out and get you vaping in style like you should be!

You got good flavors no doubt, so this is rather puzzling.

Hi Snow Dragon.

I received the following flavors as prefilled cartomizers:
Green tea, Peach, SuperMint French Pipe, Coffee, 555, Cinnamon Apple, Cappucino, Cuban Cigar, Coconut Cream, Wowboy, Chocolate, Dr. Pepper, Espresso, and Green Apple.
Nicotine ranges between none and 24 mg.

The juices I received are Coconut and French Pipe. Both of those are 18 mg.

What I mean by # 8 is that the cartomizer makes a popping sound right as I take a drag. I inhale with nice, gentle pressure. (This was a requirement with the #7 atomizer and the habit has stuck.)
On the inhale I can taste a bit of the burnt smell, but on the exhale it is enough to gag. I would say that other than the Green Tea, all of the flavors vary between burnt plastic to burnt vomit. (Not exactly a glowing endorsement, eh? lol.) I then take the cartomizer off of the battery annd put a new carto on.

I have tried every flavor, including the cartomizers I filled from juice. Those cartomizers accepted 31 drops of juice. They still taste burnt. :(

I have also switched out batteries, thinking maybe the Xlong batteries were heating the cartomizers too quickly. No luck there. I then systematically switched through all of my batteries to see if that made a difference. I have a total of 8 batteries. No luck.

I tried the flavors again today, thinking that maybe I just had an off night or needed to come at it with a fresh pallette. Unfortunately, I can't say it helped at all.

This is quite concerning. With the #7 atomizer, the flavors sucked (they were just weak and maybe a touch chemical like) but they were never burnt or unvapeable. I can not vape the $100 worth of flavors I have from Vapor4Life with the exception of the green tea. It is the only one that doesn't taste burnt. WTF?!?!

More concerning is this: I ordered another $50 worth of juice from Vapor4Life during their sale that I have not received yet. I will pretty much have their entire catalogue worth of flavors. What if they all taste nasty to me? What if the taste I'm picking up on is a common ingredient in the juices? Conversely, what if I'm tasting the actual cartomizers themselves? Does that mean I just purchased a product I can't use? :(

"Does that mean I just purchased a product I can't use?"

Unfortunately that is exactly what it means, however all is not lost. You can always go to the Pay-It-Forward Sub-Forum and trade those items straight across for other vendors juices, if you need referrals on flavors or manufacturers let me know I will send you a pm. Your batts and chargers work fine so it just comes down to a flavor issue, even your used pre-filled Cartos can be emptied
and refilled with another makers juice.

Although I am loyal customer of V4L I am the first to admit that there are some flavors, like the ones you specifically mentioned and others you have fully listed that are pretty much blech for me too. However, taste is subjective (explains the mug on brother's wife) but I find your descriptions to be rather accurate.

Any luck with the Wowboy or 555? These are generally go-to flavors for me as I find that the fruity, coffee, and dessert flavors all share a less than desirable taste for me personally. I wrote a review on some flavors (all at 18 mg) including Sour Green Apple not too long ago and found that I needed to let the Sour Green Apple sit for 2-3 weeks before the flavor came through. When I first got it, it tasted like a nasty French Pipe on the inhale with only a slight sour green apple on the exhale. However, after letting it sit for a couple of weeks the flavor became balanced and the sour green apple flavor became very pronounced.

I'd hate to see anybody waste money or become frustrated and possibly return to ciggies. So again if you need any details about other options pm me and we can go through that.

Thanks Chadley. Appreciate the efforts from the Vapor4Life team in giving me some suggestions and taking the time to chat with me about possible solutions/ suggestions to make my vaping experience a pleasing one. I am going to have a vaping friend try out the cartomizers to see if it's just me and my crazy taste buds. I'll also try refilling some blanks and see what happens there.

There is a solution here, just need to identify what the issue is. If anyone has any helpful hints, I'm more than happy to try them out in addition to the suggestions the Vapor4Life team came up with for me.

Thanks! :)

I have tasted that 'burnt' taste with Wowboy. It was a chore to get thru a cart of it, but after stopping for a while and trying it again it's different, no more 'burnt' taste. Why? I don't know. The plastic taste I thought might be the soft rubber tips, I used to work in a plastic factory and this is what a box of tips might have smelled like after dropping out of the press. Now that seems to have gone away too. Maybe they're making them diffrently, maybe with a little shelf life it improved, but I'm doing the Wowboy and enjoying it (tho it's still not a favorite, it's not nasty). I'm curious about Wowbacco, I'm really dying to try Cowboy Premium (to the point of being unfaithful to V4L and buying some Mboro somewhere else till they get this in - but I'll wait a little longer). I'd like to see V4L carry some of those 99 cent refill syringes too (hint, hint - and maybe even mods). They have an overwhelming amt of flavors and I'll keep busy trying them. Butterscotch is a must try;) But a marlboro-esque flavor would always be my go to and I assume that is what the Cowboy Premium is. Hopefully they'll rethink making some juice stateside. (?)

I did find it helpful when I was tasting the burnt flavor to add a few drops of vanilla or 555 premium to the refill.
