Hey everyone,
I've been vaping since February now and am just now having this problem with the cartridge melting. I'm using LR(Low Resistence) atties from Eastmall, a company over in China. Wondering if I need to start doing a quality control check or something. Seems to be happening with everyone of the ten that I purchased there. GREAT first few hits, then I get this burned taste.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

LRs run hotter than regular - but it may be simply that your cartridge isn't lined up properly relative to the bridge inside the atty.

If you line up the cartridges right, the plastic should not touch the heating element, so it shouldn't melt. There is a photo of the proper alignment somewhere on ECF but I don't have a link handy, sorry. My carts stopped melting after I learned this... weird that it's not mentioned in the starter kit instructions anywhere.

^^^This. I have a regular 510 on my GLV2, and at 5V it has melted the cart pretty good. I got concerned and looked it up here on ECF. The exposed white-ish ceramic part of the atty is perpendicular to the bridge. You should align the cart tip to rest in line with the ceramic portion. I started doing this, and have since stopped melting carts. I'll see if I can find the post...

Exactly.

Also, it's real easy to twist the cart while swapping atties at the battery connection. That can misalign them too. I've read you should take care not to twist the cart in the atty, it can loosen wire connections inside the atty and kill them. Maybe if that happened, a short could occur that resulted in cart melt.

So now I am careful to watch where I grab the assembled cart/atty - hold only the atty when changing batteries. And push/pull the carts straight on and straight off, don't twist. Since I learned this, no more melting.
