xg4bx,

My plan is still to try empty cartomizers and cartridges with e-liquid but I just now made a spur of the moment buy of some pre-filled cartomizers from liquidxpress: the Original and Honey Flue Cured.

I haven't tried that flavor but it does get a lot of good reviews-you've probably already seen that when you ordered. :) I have tried their Taboo (it's their RY4 variation) and loved it. Best RY4 I've tried to date!! It's just that I burn those cartos up so fast I can't afford them. Lots of folks get good use from them and here's hoping you do as well. Be sure and post back your experience, ok? Later JD :vapor:

Quick question: does anyone know if the atomizers that come with a 510 starter kit are "standard resistance" 2.2 to 2.4 ohms?

It may depend on who makes the kit. I have five Joye attys and four measure 2.3 ohms and one measures 2.4 ohms on my meter. I think I read somewhere that the Riva 510 attys measure 2.2 ohms. I'm not sure who makes the Rivas. Later. JD

If money were no object i can say that the best tasting and most realistic vapor production is from the Greencig cartomizers. They basically fit the same thread as an 808d but with slightly different venting. I like them best actually on an ego battery with an 808d adapter. The Greencig batteries have very little venting and produce too hard a draw for me. My daily vape is a HV mod at 6v with 3.4ohm 801 atty but i still crave the flavor and smoke-like quality of the vapor from a Greencig cart. The only reason i don't used them exclusively is the cost. They are not easily refilled and i never could get the same taste using any other eliquid even when i did refill them. If you want to see how close an ecig can come to giving the enjoyment we used to get from a cig then pick up a couple and try them. They truly are special. That being said, i have tried pretty much every atty and carto out there, some ok, others garbage. I just vape too much to use carts or cartos, they are just too cumbersome for daily use for me. Dripping with a drip tip is just too convenient and allows very consistant use. FWIW.

otrpu,

I'm just now reading some threads about the C-E2 R4 XL 510 cartomizers. I see the Royal Smokers brand at madvapes. They come in either a 2.4 to 2.6 ohm package or a 2.8 to 3.0 ohm package. Would one work better than the other on a 510? From what I've read they do not use any filler but can be a little hard to fill. Do you use PG or VG with these? These are a little larger than a regular 510 cartomizer?

Hi Miller,
For the eGo class batts the lower ohm range is supposed to work better. Higher of the two ranges should work better for true 3.7v PV's. I'm greater VG ratio user, usually no less than 50/50. I can easily over vape the wick capacity on the E2's I have. To compensate for this I fill two carto's and mount two PV's. When I detect a change in the vape I switch to the other, rested, PV. Or, sometimes, just slow my vaping cycle down. I'm well practiced at filling them with a syringe. I use a syringe that the needles/tips screw on to the syringe. The friction lock tips just blew off the syringe due to too thick juice. No problem with the screw lock tips. This is what works for me, anyway. Good luck with them. For the past 6 weeks I haven't used anything else and don't intend going back. Supposedly they're working on upgrade of later revision that will have a thicker wick. Trying to improve, lessen, wick time.

Cheers,
otrpu

Thanks for posting this link.Ihave an eGO 900mah.I was so anxious to get back to the e-cig successfully,I didn't want anything to stop me,so I purchased MEGA cartos, boge cartos,MEGA cartridge and MEGA atty, xl atty, and 1 lr atty that I haven't tried yet. I also was given a small metal drip tip with the kit I purchased, but I've not had a good experience with it,and I don't understand that. I couldn't taste the flavor of the juice at all! From the reading the link, I know he talks about using the LR atty when dripping, could this be my problem, since I used a reg. atty when I dripped?
I agree about the cost factor with regard to using an atty vs. a cartomizer, attys do last longer and can stretch the dollar.
Also,if anyone can direct me to where to purchase a good drip tip with larger hole, if indeed using the LR atty will change my neg. drip experience into a more positive one.
I tried the MEGA atty and MEGA carts and I felt like there was an air leak with them. Maybe I just got a bad bunch, but I hardly got any "smoke" coming out as if it were leaking air out of the cart. It even makes a girgle sound. Did I just get a bad batch or have others experienced the same?
My best experience thus far has been using the MEGA cartomizer. I can actually taste the flavors in my juices!
Thanks for any help in this. I really want to be successful this go around.

I like to use atomizers and direct drip when I am at home of the office. When I drive or travel I like to bring cartomizers as they will hold more liquid. I am still experimenting with low resistance atomizers/cartomizers and different voltages. When I try new E-liquids I use a regular atomizer and a low resistance atomizer to get a feel for the liquid as cleaning out an atomizer is easier than a cartomizer. I also find that you get better flavor out of a atomizer but that could be just me.

I can't really figure why nothing is working that well for you, and I suggest you start a new thread, asking for some suggestions. Hopefully you'll get some good suggestions from it. :)

I've found that I don't care for the hotter vapor. I tend to perceive it as 'dry' and harsh on my throat, and it destroys the flavor of a lot of my juices. I have one regular atty (2.3 ohm) that I have taken the bridge out of for dripping and I enjoy it pretty well, but rarely use it as I use a E2 carto for dripping. But you might want to give it a try. Just searsh utube for 'removing the bridge' and the vid by Phee303 will show you how on a 510 atty.

Also, a lot of the vendors sell trip tips in various shapes and sizes, but for testing purposes, just take the filler out of a regular cart and use it. That way you can see if the plastic tastes any better that the metal.

Hope this helps. Just hang in there and you'll surely find something that works for you. There's a lot of choices and it just takes time to find your sweet spot. Lots of folks need to have a lot of horsepower in their vape and you may be one of them. If that's the case, an LR atty should help. Later, JD :vapor:

.

I use the mega atty / carts and have a little girgling sometimes, if you draw a little slower, less girgle more vapor.
Think it's just the amount of juict the cart and atty are handling because of the size. Needs to stay wet because it's
bridge is so big and too much air too fast makes it girgle.
