Got the Mephisto, N22, and Veritas today, and all three look great. Thanks again for such a great deal, CH. Only problem is, I'm gonna give choice of one of them as a gift, and think I'm going to have to get another for myself since I now don't want to part with any of them.

Quick question: Turns out the screws on that first Dark Horse clone (which I'm pretty sure is not the same clone as the current one) were chromed brass, and they corroded when I soaked the atty. Any suggestions for good replacements?

Just got the exact same order delivered today, myself :toast:

Shame you gotta part with one - they all look pretty promising.

ETA: and, yeah, thanks CH - super deal. I predict clouds for the holidays.

Negative ghost rider, that pattern is full..

Looks like stainless to me. Definitely not brass. Non-magnetic ( not plated steel)
Not yellow (not brass)
Not red (not copper)
Not plated see pics
Looks like stainless to me. Maybe not 304 or 18-2 but stainless of some sort.
Notice the screw I ground compared to the gold plated center post. No yellow, no red, non magnetic. Leaves zinc or stainless. Zinc would crumble under pressure. I say stainless. Notice no coating in the pics. My original thought would have been chrome plated steel but there is no etch coating and its non magnetic. I suppose solid nickel would also be a possibility but very doubtful due to cost and difficulty maching a part that small. Either way solid nickel would actually be less reactive than stainless making it an even better option.

Btw stainless steel will rust in the correct conditions, albeit at a much slower rate than steel or iron. I'm betting on 303 stainless at this point.

After reading this I change my bet to 200 series stainless steel.

Received my Rogue yesterday. Thanks Tom for the quick ship...

First impressions are just meh at best. I had to change out the +post screw. It just wouldn't capture my 26g wire secure enough. It was bottomed out all the way and Ω's bounced all over the map. I took a screw from one of my Mephisto's for the time being and have been using it. It sets up real high and in fact goes up into the the drip tip hole in the top cap and collects condensation and gurgles. Need to find a shorter screw as I don't want to cut this one down. AFC seems to work pretty good, but whistles when its wide open.

I coiled it up w/ 26g 2.5mm duals w/ RxW @ .47Ω and though it is a flavorful vape, it is not dense at all vapor wise. I have tried raising and lowering the coils to no avail. Lower seems to be better than higher it would seem. I will rip out these coils today and try some 24g 1/16" TMC's and see how they work. I would hope the +post screw would capture the 24g wire better. If not I will have to try and find some screws elsewhere. If 24g doesn't in fact work, the Mephisto will go back on top of that grand.

Came back home today after a week to find my 3 atties from Tom had arrived in good condition. Great packing job too so now I have, for the first time ever, some bf RDA's other than the RM2 which I bought with my reo some 4-5 months ago.

I have myself a Magma, a Mephisto and Tom surprised me with a Doge. Gonna coil up the Magma first I think. Man, those screws and internals on some of those atties are small!

I now need to get some 26 and maybe some 24 gauge Kanthal for the Mephisto, as all I have now is 28 and 30 gauge. Need to find some other mandrels too beside the one that came with my coil-a-ma-jig which is I think 1.5mm. Have a 14gauge lure-lock and some drill bits' of course' but they in particular are a little rough. Maybe some 0000 steel wool will make it easier to slide the coils off the drill bit after wrapping.

Been using ... cotton and I once tried silica but I might have to find some rayon too just to see.

I'll let you guys know how it goes coiling and installing these babies with my old and, yes, even ancient eyes and co-ordination.

Thanks again to Tom for making these available to the public and for the great special he's running! Take advantage of it while you can peeps...

Are you using single coil? I'm using dual 27awg with room to spare on the screw.

I haven't decided yet but I do have 7 left out of the original 20. I have a few copper n22s left that I might send to Dready's for the patina extreme treatment.

Dual 26g coils... Screw bottoms out on +post. As I said, using a screw from the Mephisto and it is holding them well. I am in search of new screws prior to rebuilding the atty again. The condensation that is forming on top of the Mephisto screw is just too much.

And what will that do to the cost having Mark patina those? I'd love to get one of his matched set, or an N22 patina and Reo door to match!
