Man I don't get it! I'm having zero issues with my rem. I'm in love with it actually. I've done one build and it was perfect, 26ga 2.0mm duals. I slid the positive leads into the post hole, like one would for any positive post, then the negative leads, I slid them in sideways into the slot, as in parallel to the slot.
Maybe I got lucky and got decent screws?!
Although, I asked Tom for some grubs for the rem to be sent along with my Manta, you guys have me worried for my next build!!

Ru I'm at the point now of doing decent builds in the sense of getting them to stay (with grubs) and, I just tried this new build - good flavor just not great - my issue now is getting rid of hot legs. This one doesn't appear when wicked and wet but it does when unwicked and dry. Worrisome to a sloth

Almost there. Glad to hear someone is on the other side of these trials and loving their rem. How's your flavor rudawg?

Actually my flavors really good at the moment. It's totally satisfactory. Just wish I didn't have glowing positive legs. Afraid to take a long drag. One step away from a great vape! Ď

I'm not totally discouraged by the REMatty. My first build (24ga) is working just fine. Flavor kind of sucks but it does huck some fog. I also really like the way it looks. Would I buy another? Probably not. Glad I'm on the Derringer 1.3 list... it will be my third Catfish'd Derringer and the Derringer happens to be my favorite BF RDA by a very large margin.

Dude I don't know why, but I've never had an issue with hot legs, even with .25ohm builds.

My flavor is pretty damn good I think. But there's a catch, I'm hitting The Virus at 5+ months steep, first time in this territory of H1N1 for me! I think I did 6 wraps and metered @ .37ish. I have the airflow closed up some, but not to MTL point. I'm pretty sure I can get better flavor with a cleaner build, first build was a bit sloppy as I was excited to get it done. I'd like to get my hands on the slam cap and try it with a tip.

Good luck man, hope it works out for you!

Did you have issues with hot legs Jeffrey? I'm trying the same build. Just did it again. The leg that goes to the positive post always glows without fail, I'm thinking because the post itself is so much lower than the coil?

I had the exact same problem when I did a spaced coil. Had to heat and compress a few times to get that to stop. I was hoping the grubs would eliminate it. I'll give it a few more tries and put in grubs before I give up.
Because I am stubborn determined like that.

Even with grubs the wires have to cross. With 26g anyway. If they do not cross - if one wire per groove - one coil will wiggle. This is clearly a design flaw. I'm of the impression they did not even test 26g or higher gauge wires. I just had a contact coil unravel before my eyes into a spaced coil because it was loose. The ohm reader read it stable.

This atty beats everything I have ever seen.

Yeah I did, snapped two coils before the 3rd worked. This build on every other atty has been just wonderful. I'd buy anot her derringer but I just csnt afford it right now. 5 week old baby is expensive. I'd love to psckage my fsm, rematty and baal rdas to get a 2nd derringer. Then I can seND my 3rd reo to rob for a mill down and the new 510. Otherwise I'll have to sell my 3rd reo just to afford the derringer. Or maybe tom will mod a mutation x v2?

I emailed Tom this morning about this. Mantas are regular stock now per Tom, no more lists for it. Just pay & email for it.

Thanks. I paid last week so since no one has posted receiving any yet from that 2nd list batch then it must be in the mail system still.

I'm glad you all are posting your experiences with the REMatty. Mine won't be here until looks like Saturday. I probably wont be able to build it until Sunday. I'm not sure which way I'm going to go with it yet. I couldn't find grub screws either in my collection of stuff nor in our little hardware store so I ordered 100 of them and will be here early next week. At least I can try out the bonsai to see how that one does. Besides the Derringer, my favorite atty is the Freakshow mini. Love that thing, except it is easy enough to make a mess if tipped or oversquonked. But those 2 atties are what I judge other atties by. I probably should have stayed on the Derringer list but was really excited about the Rem. We'll see how it goes when I get it.

So I got a Rematty the other day (not bf) and as soon as I started to build it I was like wtf! I ended up having to use the screw head of the positive pin to get any kind of build done. I was wondering why would they make such a short screw and got online and found everyone here having the same issue. Thanks for letting me know I'm not crazy. I really been wanting a bottom feeder lately too reading though this thread is going to make it materialize.

Another failed build due to hot positive legs...

That's it I think. I think I'm done.

This atty is unusable. Worst vape choice I have ever made.

Sloth, have you tried Clapton wire in it, just thinking the thicker wire may help.

I'm due to receive mine Monday but having read such negative feedback in not sure I'll have enough time in a busy Monday night to coil it up. I hear they are going to release a video on how to build it, hopefully this will shed some light on this challenging atty. I was also on the derringer list, would of been my first so hoping I won't regret it, also feel for Tom as I believe he ordered a boat load of these so we have to work this out somehow for that reason alone [emoji16]

I much would have preferred a 4th derringer to 2 remattys. Thus far the most disappointing rda I've ever used. That's because my expectations were so high though. That said I'm back home working on it now. Thanks to D grubs and Penguiness I have a stable build. We are about to break it in...

I think I damaged the positive post of the one I took into the woods though by trying to get stuck screws out from where my 26g had slid up beside of the screws. Unbelievable @ Rem Creations. No idea what they were thinking with those screws man. No clue.

At any rate pressing on with this build and if it's a go then I'll tackle the possibly damaged one. Hoping for flavor better than the long forgotten odin, because thus far, it's been that at best.

Edit after snapping a coil - I hate the rem. Tom's work is amazing, maybe the best I've seen. But 6 plus hours deep on this atty and I have nothing but hatred. Ugh. I can't believe I got 2 of them.

Another edit - ok it didn't snap just came loose from the neg. Imagine that. These "innovative" slots sure are wonderful
That really sux! I too thought those REMs would be the bees knees of BF attys!

I'm really liking the REMatty with 24g Kanthall 8 wraps ~.45ohm 3/32 ID.

It doesn't beat my Marquis but this particular build is working quite nicely.

I pre-bent my coil leads so they fully seated into the slot for the negative connections. It was trickier than usual but doable. This atty may just like the thicker wire. YMMV :)

edit: yea, I just double-checked, really nice flavor and clouds with this setup. :)

Guess I'll have to try 24ga and maybe a slightly larger id. But I'd still rather have the derringer where I can out any build in with. no issues
