Catfish atty mods.

In honor of me sending my Derringer off to be Catfished, I wanna put it on something nice. While I'll most likely end up with another Catfish Addy sooner rather than later, and I'll obviously be looking into getting a Reo.. (When are LP going to be available again?)

I"m on the Luigi Marino list, and have been looking around at other stuff (Sunbox, Svapimo etc) Does anyone have strong opinions or wanna share their thoughts about the Phidias? I can get one rather quickly, and they're gorgeous.. But I never hear anything about them, and I'm left wondering why....

While I know and respect you very much, and everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but I have to disagree here. I think this is the most genius part of the Nuppin'. Eliminating the negative posts made it a small atty with the capabilities to run a very large variety of coil diameters and or variations in it. It has one of the easiest decks to work on and is one of the easiest atty's to setup and maintain. The weakest link IMO would be how easy it would be to suck cotton or rayon back down through the feed channel, (and it has been done)...:2c:

All that said, I still love my CH Derringer and CH Mephisto's very much...
Definitely much respect to chowder for filling massive, much needed void.

Though I disagree on the posts also. And the reasoning.

I highly doubt it was done that way to save $ on milling. Nothing Peter does takes the cheap way out.

The deck being shaped the way it is... and raised... leaving a drain channel below it... allows the joose to drain while the channel fills so the suction doesn't break and draw in air before the deck is drained completely.

It's a purpose designed and built atty specific to bottom feeding. Squonk and drain is what it does... and does better than any atty to date. Building into the deck might be what makes the design work... or it might be an inconvenience of the design... depending on your perspective.

Now if I'd only get off my rear and find me an o-ring so I can put my hobo back to work...

The phidias is more of a after dinner vape with a single coil atty on it than anything else. Small bottle, small gauge juice path makes it tough to squonk high vg juice. Mine is either going away or getting modded with a gdeal 510 and 6 ml bottle. Thing is I hate to chop up a beautiful mod.

Just one of those builders that has taken down his/her shingle and moved on...I'd love to come across an old Phid that was in good shape...some nice looking woodwork there...it seems many I've seen have some warpage going one just due to the intricate lay-ups of the wood...and as Roscoe stated, may need some upgrading but if you're handy...

He's actually still making them. I caught up with him, and have an opportunity to snag a brand new beautiful Phidias. Hence my question.

I'm pretty impressive with how the marquis squonk/drains. . . It's great!

Thanks! And I will stipulate you are pretty impressive, now back to work! My Ti isn't going to make itself. I have sent 5 people from FB your way possibly exacerbating the backlog.

I don't follow... Are you asking if a Vertex will work on a Phiddias the answer is yes, how well it works Would be better answered by MommaBird.

I have one and ended up putting a CH Mephisto on it. It does ok. The squonking is more awkward for me than my REOs. It came with a CH Vertex which I wound up putting on one of my REOs. I use the Phidias some and it is a beautiful little mod but as someone stated earlier, it does better with the thinner juices. I like it but it's not one of my go to mods. I have learned that the key to squonking it is hold it completely upside down and squonk for about 8 seconds.

Nonono - I was just providing a link to Phids, cuz people were asking about them - and checking that it is not causing a problem to link to a mod-makers thread here - didn't THINK there'd be any issue with that, but hey, logic doesn't always apply.

Unlike other B-F Mods, it's more about time than pressure when squonking, Roscoe01 list's some of the other posible drawbacks below. Personally I enjoy mine, I tilt it 10 O'clock- 4 O'clock tip down with a medium pressure 8 count squeeze, and it works fine. The 3ml bottle is on the small side, but I usually run a Tea or other Morning juice in it, and 3ml is good, refilling is quick & easy.

If you can understand it's not a REO or other B-F that doesn't mainly rely on being gravity fed, I'd recommend it, I also think it's not for most B-F Practitioners. I'd also recommend squonking with the Atty cap off, over a paper towel to get a feel for how the coil/wick is fed using the tilt method.
