I highly caution against using clear nail polish to protect syringe markings (without thorough testing). Though using utmost care, I identified particulate in a DIY juice traced to flaking from such syringes. I've switched to "magic" aka transparent tape; to date, seems this might be suitable for the life of the syringe.
This occurred using Sally Hansen's "No Chip" Acrylic Top Coat. However, due to flaking risk, I would discourage nail polish altogether for this purpose.
