The burning taste should go with time. Some people do a quick dry burn of the carto before use - not extensive, just a few short burns. While doing this you get an odour from the wick, which is probably what you are tasting. The wick material is heat proof and won't burn, but this initial heating seems to get rid of whatever is on the surface that can give that unpleasant taste initially. This is of course easier with a manual battery.

I hate to tell you that, but sometimes the wicks are soaked in some kind of horrible primer fluid and dry burning won't do anything to get rid of that taste. Sometimes an overnight soak in vodka or vinegar and subsequent rinse with hot water, drying and then dry burning improves the situation. Sometimes it doesn't. The experts actually torch the wicks to properly clean them. Yep. Torch them. I kid you not. Check the E2 R4 Tips and Tricks thread if you don't believe me.

I got another 5 and I'm now hooked on them. The only problem I'm having is, if I don't remove the third ring and fill through one of the holes I end up with juice everywhere and only get about a minutes vaping out of them before they seem dry. I'm inserting my syringe as far down the hole as possible (as far down as I put it when filling with the 3rd ring removed). I'm obviously doing something wrong but can't work out what.

Just had the same experience with another one. Can someone confirm this for me? In the 3rd ring there's two slits in the ring and two holes (if you drew a line from slit to slit then it would be perpendicular to a line drawn from hole to hole). It's the holes you put the juice down and not the slits? If that's the case wouldn't it be more logical to slide the syringe down the outside of the slits as at least you'd know for sure you'd be squirting the juice down the outside of the inner contraption?

Yes. And they are located in the full depth dimension of the ring. If you have any that you're no longer using, take one apart and check the ring out. It will become obvious to you.

I've read around the forum that some people do this successfully. But there's really no art to using the filler holes except to penetrate fully thru to the underside.

I did the mod on the CE2 that Kj and the video (way back in the begining of this thread) both discribed and it works great! I am normally a 6 volt vaper - I thought, this is so strong maybe I should try that 18650 batt (3.7 volts)- I looked everywhere for it, worried that maybe it fell on the floor and one of my dogs was knawing on it somewhere... and I forgot that I was using a 18650 battery while testing this! Wow! I'm hooked.

Thanks for the replies. I'm using the holes, I'm inserting a 22 gauge needle through them and pushing it as far down as it will go. I can understand how I'd end up leaking a little juice due to only stopping when juice appears in the inner cylinder but I can't understand how I end up with most of it coming out the connection end and then only getting a minute's vaping before it appears dry. If I remove the 3rd ring altogether I have no problems filling.

Disappointingly, the latest 2 cartomisers I tried had a weak draw so I ended up ditching them and opening another two (I use 2 for different juices). I've given up on trying to fill them with the 3rd ring in place because of the poor performance and filling difficulties. Previously I ditched the 3rd ring and used two ring 2's along with the white plug but was having a lot of leaks. With these latest two I ditched ring 2 and put ring 3 back in upside down. It's easier to get out and put back in level (I just push it into place using the plastic cover on the syringe) and, so far, I've had a lot fewer leaks.

I did the mod that "capt12b" has on youtubes. I remove that "filler ring". I stick the end of a paper clip into 1 of those 2 fill holes. I first fashion a bit of a "hook" on the end of the paper clip. I then stick that hook into 1 of the 2 fill holes and tug like crazy until I remove that ring.(these clear tubes are harder to get that silicone plug out).
Once removed, I can fill it very easy, just dripping along the side of the tube until I see the juice at the top of the coil cup. I then "reverse" that silicone fill ring and put it back in. This seems to prevent any fluid leaking out the top if you turn it upside down. Been doing this for weeks now and it's always worked for me, and some others as well.
Good luck to us all.:vapor:

If you still have some of the brand new Ce2rev 4's (not the clear ones) I took all the seals out when they were all brand new, and soaked them in hot water, not quite boiling. Soak for about 10 minutes, and then keep filling them up with water, and shaking them out, vaping side facing down. Once it fills with water, you really have to shake it to get it out of there, due to surface tension. Seems like a lot of trouble but well worth it. I put mine in the oven at about 185 for a couple of hours.

I am now using the clear ones that are now out. They do not have the primer that tastes nasty so no need to wash these.

Here is what I have found though. They do not wick quite fast enough and I have to imaging all vg juice will wick even slower due to the thickness of the juice.

Here is what I would do (Thanks badolo)

Use the head of a drywall screw to seat the bottom seal back on. then take the hook and lift that cup back up slightly by working your little hook into the wick slots from the inside hole. Lifting it up a half a millimeter or so should allow a less restricted wick, and allow juice to wick better.

its my understanding that they will be trying to fix this issue, but there is still a problem with current inventories, so these tips should help us all enjoy what is currently being sold. I really like the clear ones. you can see how much juice is in there.

I have also found that dark, sticky sweet juices really muck up the coil in these, and I get only one refill before it tastes like azz. Clearer juices seem to work better for me.

Oh, do not use juice with strong cinnamon in the clear ones. something in the cinnamon oil is causing the clear reservior plastic to crack and juice leak out everywhere.

Hope this helps.

Take a jumbo paper clip and straiten out. Then take pliers and create a little hook on the end. (as small a hook as you can create)Then use that hook to

This continues to be the case but I've noticed if I lay the carts atomiser facing up or even sideways they leak more. When I'm not using them I sit them upright on a table atomiser facing down.

PS Wicking is sometimes an issue doing this. Definitely could do with a new plugging method.

Hear I am on the fence about trying these out from Vapor Junction for some stainless steel replacement m402 batteries I'm planning on getting in the near future. Been using m402 batteries with both standard and XL cartridges, with either standard filler or with the Pyramid Tea Bag modification, for about 6-7 months now. Both types of cartridges (or all 4, depending on how you look at it) work fine for me, but I'm always interested in trying something new, even though that hardly ever works out for me (like my experiences with the m601). Reports on using these CE2 R4 atomizer cartridges seem very mixed, but there do appear to be workarounds to the problems that work. The question is...is all that trouble worth it? Are the non-primed versions, that one may or may not get, good enough out of the box? If you are using these with m40x gear, how is that working out? Better overall experience to just using regular refillable cartridges? "Properly" taken care of, how many uses will you get out of one of these before you have to throw it away? (Heck, I still use some of my m40x cartridges I first started out with, no problems.) Any recent purchase experiences of these from Vapor Junction for the m-series? Do I really need to Pyramid Tea Bag modify these to get the most out of them?

Sorry, I know that's a heck of lot of questions, but I'm just super curious about these. Since I'll probably be getting new m401 atomizers soon as well, I'd kind of like to know if I need to even bother. If I try the CE2 R4 atomizer cartridges instead, I won't, unless I'll want those old style atomizers just for backup...you know, in case I find the CE2 R4s to be a complete and painful disaster!

Anyway, if any of you can further enlighten me on this, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance for any responses.

Not sure arjay but it looks like more hassle than I'm willing to go through. Do you put both ring 2 and ring 3 back in the same way as they originally were?

This is a post I left elsewhere for badkolo;

"Hey BK, as mentioned weeks ago, I took apart my very first clear CE2 that I got when they first came out. Haven't used it in a month at least. Cleaned the wick well and cut the loops. Then I unravelled everything. Looked like a damn rat's nest when I was done. Slid it back into the tube, did a couple quick dry burns, and filled it to the max. Only used the cup silicone/upside down/ and stuck a drip tip on it. Stuck it on my Buzz at about 4.3V. The vapor is massive. Never-ever got this when new for sure. The air flow is very good, flavor is excellent and I couldn't be more pleased. Heck, I've got 5 or 6 boxs of these left that I hadn't used cuz I was just ticked at how they worked initially. Good grief - this tube is kickin .....
I'm thinking that when I split all the wick up, it helped big time. In any case, whatever the heck did it, I'm doing it now for each one I load up. It's so simple to do and the benefits are awesome."

This really made a big difference for me and was quite easy to do.
