ok so i have a cell phone that stopped charging and i got a new one free because it was a few years old. it seems to be only the connection to the charger that is really broken. upon examination of the battery i see it is 1000mAh and 3.7 volts, i am a lower voltage vaper and 3.7 is usually about where i vape on my eGo-T. would it be safe to use this battery in a mod? i figure it must be safe enough to hold near your face, and as long as i use a regulator (which i can probably salvage from the guts of my phone) it should make a great little mod...

does anyone know if this has been done before? if this is a really bad idea, and if so why?

thanks this would be my first mod, and i have been doing a bit of research. and trying to salvage electrical devices before i spend any money on this (that is the whole point right?), i just want to buy some 510 connectors and a soldering iron to get started...

thanks :)

Yeah, the biggest thing to keep in mind is the c-rating. I don't think cell-phone batteries list it though.

Here is a comment from an rc forum: "Yep the "C" rating. Think about it, a phone runs for what, say 18 hrs off that 2600mah battery. No matter what it is exactly it's way less then 1C. How well do you think a battery designed for low draw for 18 hrs is going to last at high draw for < 5min? Me thinks not so well."

Now, an rc heli uses a LOT of amps. Assuming the c-rating is 1C, that means you can safely draw 1 amp. If it's less, and it very well could be, then less than 1 amp.

Basically...look to see what others have done successfully, and have a coil/volts setup that uses 1 amp or less, if that's possible. I'm a noob myself so I don't know.

At 1amp your volts and your watts and your resistance are all the same number because of how amps work in the ohms law calculations. So basically at 3.7v you could fire a 3.7ohm coil but no lower than that… so yeah that doesn't work.

Found this after searching to see if anone else thought of a vaping cell phone.

I think there's enough of a market for cell phone makers to make one.

It would only need to be about 3/8" thicker for a 3000mAh battery, the vaping chip, and a 510 port.

They could make it turn to 'airplane/music mode' while it's vaped for those with radiation phobia that don't want the phone so close to their head as often.

Keep you wallet/box MOD etc in between your leg and your phone if it's in your pocket. Use speaker phone. keep your phone on the opposite side of your room/car/etc and in a windowsill (where it can't get rained on) so it requires less radiation energy from the cell tower waves to ping it by going through walls etc (if that's true). etc.
