I've been lurking around here for the last month or so and after following the threads
on rba's and ceramic wick setups I decided to do my 5 post duty and jump
into the subject head first.:cool:

Ok-here we go-->

I understand that ceramic wicks could use some help in the wicking department.
Also the FC-2000 is a little short for some devices.
What if a guy rolled a tight SS mesh sleeve and slid it over the ceramic wick? Would that
help wicking? The sleeve could also effectively "extend" the ceramic to accomodate
the longer tanks. Virgin un-"oxidized" mesh would not add a metallic taste to the
juice--would it?

What do ya'll think?

p.s.---What a great group of guys!!!:D

as far as the ceramic being to short for certain devices, i only think the ac-9 is affected as far as i know and it really isnt to bad. i have a ceramic in it and while it would be nice to have the wick 1/4 in longer, it works just fine. i do think the ss mesh over ceramic is actually a terrible idea. the reason i absolutly love the ceramic is because of the flavor and the fact that it doesnt short, by adding mesh back to it, you are taking away its flavor and adding the possibility of shorting. imo no matter of oxidizing or un-oxidizing ss mesh, you still taste the metal, this doesnt become evident until you vape ceramic for a while.

I'm in the "You'll never know unless you try" camp. Since the mesh is all in the tank there's no risk of shorting anything. The worst case scenario is that you piss away some perfectly good mesh and/or break a ceramic.
On the other hand you just might find out you're right and come out with a fantastic wick that gives you the best of both worlds.

sorry, for i didnt comprehend it very well, i thought it ran the whole lenght of coil, then yes your right about the short, but still could be a flavor issue, but like you said until you actually do it you really dont know for sure.
