I just bought 3 new 18650 batteries for my Provari V2. I got them from provape. Did I pay a few dollars more for them? Yes.

Do I have to wonder if they are relabeled knockoffs or the wrong battery for the application? No.

Keep in mind that mah is the total capacity of the battery, not the maximum output load. Step up VV systems pull a lot of amps. You must have 'high drain' style batteries.

You'll want to refrain from using ICR's (NCR18650A you linked) as the protection circuit included on the negative side of the battery could potentially trip in high-current situations. For example, the ProVari V2/V2.5 has a 3.5amp limit, so the battery could potentially trip before ever reaching the maximum rated output of the ProVari, and this varies battery to battery AFAIK. The ProVari requires a High-Drain High-Output Battery, and the AW IMR's fit this criteria to a T.

I stick with AW IMR's due to proven longevity and overall safety (safe chemistry, does not vent with flame). To me, a few bucks more for a proven battery is worth so much more than saving a few dollars and putting myself and bystanders at risk, even as rare as those events are. However, it's all personal preference and only you know your budget constraints. :2c:
