Ok so its been about a month for me and have gone through the loss of taste thing, it came back and then its gone again. I have tons of big bottles of juice that I loved at first and now cannot stand even the smell of, let alone vaping it.

I have been on board with the mind set that it's ok to have a real cig now and then and not to beat myself up about it. But recently I have been going freaking bananas on cigs, I mean like tearing through half a pack in a few hours. vaping for a while and still craving a real cig like mad.

Has anyone else gone through this? I think I am just frustrated with the whole process; buying stuff all the time, filling carts, the mess, batteries not working, liquid in the mouth, etc.

I feel like Phillip Morris has won.

I have gotten frustrated with it... but it passed for me i have experienced lose of taste... what i find works for me for the whole lose of taste is to vape some menthol for a bit maybe a day... and i am not a menthol fan. After that it seems my flavors come back. I have gotten alot better over time about getting juice in my mouth still happens but not as bad. I personally have not smoked another analog since i got my PV. I have seen other peoples postings that have gone back to analogs and are struggling.. I put it in my head that i was NOT going to pick up another cig once i got my pv. It was a hard and sometimes still is, I find that "out of sight, out of mind" works wonders... I DO NOT keep a pack around me, nor lights or ashtrays... i don't want to have them there as a crutch. I belive you can get through this and get back on the vaping, takes a bit for will power

I feel like you do....but I haven't smoked.....6 wks for me!

Vaping is way harder to keep up with than lighting a cig.

I do not know the answer...... I'm trying to vape less often so I don't have to fill as many cartos......I do it once a week now, about 50 at a time.....I use approx 6/day....maybe I need to up my nic level....

I keep a bottle of unflavored 36mg for just these occasions. Might try switching over to dripping as well. When you take an unsatisfying drag, 3 drips on the atomizer hooks you right up. I came so close to smoking again due to all the cartridge headaches with leaking and inconsistent pulls. Switched to dripping and never looked back.

I almost fell off the wagon too. My nic level was OK, but I was frustrated as heck with the high maintenance. Always charging batteries, filling cartridges, messing with cartos. Inconsistent vaping; "What now, is it the Atty, the battery, am I out of juice? Why not just light up a ....?" Then I found the wonderful world of juice boxes. Problems solved. One big 18650 battery, one 6ml bottle of juice in one box! Lasts me a full day at least of chain vaping.

Take a look at either the Reo or the Journeyman or even a Wet Box.

Just my :2c:

Just the opposite for me. I have a 1/2 pack sitting on my patio....gathering dust. I wanted to stare down those SOB's when I got the urge to smoke. Now, I walk by and laugh at them. At first it was tough; not nic cravings but the mental aspect. The habits we create are hard to break......

Anyone who falls off the analogue wagon; just climb back on. Keep quitting until you do.

What mg nic are you vaping???That may be something you want to increase if your at a low nic level...takes the edge off the cravings...

I started out with 36mg and it made me queezy, so i am on 11-12mg now.

Unflavored?! How does that work?

I was dripping for a while and thought I found Nirvana; now that just tastes like foot too. Even with new atomizers.

First, if your anything like me, once you quit, you can NEVER smoke another cig. It's just one. And then maybe you can handle that, so it's just one every once in a while, then two a day, and then you get drunk and smoke a few, then wake up and crave one...

I can and will go from not smoking for a month, to a pack a day in about 4 days. I've quit and relapsed about 10 times...you gotta know yourself. And like I said, for some of us, we can NEVER smoke again if we want to stay quit.

Second, there are a few down sides to vaping. One of them being: once we start vaping, we can do it whenever, wherever. We don't have to worry about how many cigs we are smoking, or spacing it out for health reasons. Therefore, if we do relapse, we smoke cigarettes, but want to smoke like we're vaping. We are used to doing it whenever, so we DO do it whenever. And with cigarettes, this is a very bad thing.

This happened to me. I was a pack a day smoker for about 6 years, and I quit through vaping for about a month when I first got my 510. Then as soon as I started smoking again, I was 1.5 to 2 packs a day MINIMUM. I once smoked 2.5 packs in a day, and have successfully smoked a pack in 4 hours.

Sometimes, when you have an addictive personallity, you gotta beat yourself up over it. Not to scold you at all, but to advise you...you need to just quit. And vape. And never smoke again. Easier said than done, I tried for about 8 months after my first relapse. Now I'm 15 days strong and I don't want an analog at all. But I know what will happen if I have just one.

11 or 12mg is pretty low. 36 might make you nauseous, but 18-24 is usually the norm for heavy smokers. that's like the sweet spot for most. definitely try that if you haven't, you'd be surprised how big a difference there is between 18 to 24 and 24 to 36. if you're not mixing your own liquids, you might want to give that a try so you can experiment a bit.

yea i'm the same way. i was thinking for a while that i could smoke a few analogs and come back to vaping no problem. then after 3 months vaping, i'm realizing now that every time i smoke a few analogs, it's like starting all over again in terms of my body adjusting. i have to go through the whole "can't taste, can't smell" thing all over again. that's like a week or two process, then there's the harsh feeling of the vapor again as my throat and lungs try to regain new tissue and recover.

at first i thought i had it good, just a few smokes here and there, but eventually i ended up having to smoke whole packs of analogs every time i fell off the wagon so to speak.

it wasn't as easy each time. slowly but surely cigs made me wake up having to decide "do i want to vape or smoke today" even on uneventful days. how strange considering vaping makes me feel so wonderful and analogs so crappy.

anyways, now i realize it's all about pretending cigs don't exist anymore for me. i don't even entertain the thought now lest i have a harder and harder time staying away from them. smoking one will only make me feel like i "need" one more often. the day seems more "stressful" when it's really not.

stick to it man. move up in nic content as much as you can and remember each cig is going to make you start over again to some degree in terms of regaining your sense of taste. if you know there are some flavors you used to enjoy, i'd advise just to continue vaping them and not to think about it. usually i'll come around and enjoy it again. it was just the cigs that made me think it suddenly was terrible.

My experience has been different than most i read here. I've smoked for about 33years and 1.5 packs per day for about 28+ of those. I've tried to "cut down" and quit many times but never lasted very long. Trying to quit cold turkey about 2 years ago was pure hell and felt like my head would burst into flames... no bs.

Last year i found e-cigs... thank goodness. At first i went down to about 5 cigs per day but after a month had a constant longing for a real cig all the time, even after finishing one of my rationed real cigs.

What i do now and i'm very happy with is not intentionally telling myself i cant have a real cig. I vape nearly constantly on low nic liquid. When i feel a strong craving i drip a few drops of 36mg. That usually does the trick BUT i allow myself to have a real cig anytime the craving is just more than i want to deal with. I now smoke about 10 cigs per day with no cravings unsatisfied.

I believe that i feel less and less cravings for real cigs gradually and think i may get back down to 5 per day within the next month or so without forcing myself to do it. I am at a point where i prefer the vape feeling and taste over real cigs. Either way, 10 per day is a lot better than the 30 per day i was smoking. Nothing else has been this effective so i'm very happy with the results and so is my wife and family.

The only thing i hate about e-cigs is how fincky they are. I like the "ritual" part as it replaces some of the ritual of smoking analogs BUT the atty's always fading in and out or dieing young, the liquid occasionally getting in the mouth and the some carts just not wicking drives me nuts!

Your need to smoke will rise and fall with stress. Ecigs will kill the desire for an analog, but they won't replace the MAO inhibitors you get with cigarettes. I still smoke analogs at the rate of 5 to 10 a day, depending on how pushed I feel.

Some find that Snus or other smokeless tobacco kills the craving and satisfies all the needs. I haven't tried it because I know people who quit cigarettes using smokeless tobacco years ago and still buy it every day.

If you can do it, keep on allowing yourself an analog here and there and try to taper off. At least you aren't completely off the wagon and your health is proportionate to the amount you smoke.

For me, it gives me the nicotine blast I need, with no flavor. It usually ends up tasting like a weaker version of whatever flavor you had in there last. I think cigarettes taste horrible, so if you think cigs taste good and all ejuice is nasty, then I dunno if my method will work for ya. Vaping 36mg probably will make you dizzy if you vape it constantly. I smoke 11-18mg daily and switch to 36 when thats not doing the trick (2-3 times daily). I honestly havent had a cigarette craving since 3 days into vaping, and thats been over a year ago. But there are times when vaping makes me feel like something is missing, and 36 mg juice fills the void. Good luck in whichever way you go!
