Cartotanks:p

I'm glad I came across this thread. I experience the same issues when vaping. I don't chain vape per say but when i do pick up my pv I hit it pretty frequently for 10 minutes or so then put it down for a little. I seem to be going trough coil heads really quickly and I just ordered some 510 atomizers because I'd like to try dripping when I'm at home but on the go I still need a better alternative to clearos. I've tried the ismoka mini bcc, iclear 16s, the C5 bdc from aspire and now an aspire nautilus. I was really disappointed in the wicking ability of the iclear 16s and I haven't had the greatest experience so far with the nautilus despite some peoples rave reviews of it. I am getting really aggrivated and so far not having a good vaping experience which is making not picking up the analogs difficult.

Hope this doesn't come across as snobby since I'm new to EFC but ...

Take the plunge into bigger batteries and rebuildables. I tried the carto/ego/vv/vw's for a while and they did nothing for me. In fact I disliked them so much I gave up and went back to analogs. A buddy wouldn't let me drop it and made me (heh) but a mech mod and a Kayfun. I fell in love. This is going to sound snobby for sure but until you try rebuildables you haven't tasted vaping.

I've gone through many phases in the last year or so of vaping. I've got a LOT of mods. For the longest time I was into straight 18xxx tube mods. Lately I've been in love with some of the box mods, both mechanical and DNA based. Absolutely LOVE the DNA chip and I HATED vv/vw for the longest time. I've got 3 DNAs currently and plan on attaining more.

Kayfun was fun for me for a minute but I moved on from there as well. Great for learning but nowadays I'm really into my Taifun with SS wick and drippers with microcoils and cotton wick. Haven't used silica/ekowool in ages. As an engineer genesis atties "make sense" to me but after building a few, I've only had one that was successful and it fried itself the other day ... guess I need to build a few more and not stop till I figure them out ...

Long, babbling post but my key point ... once you go to big batteries (18xxx or even 26xxx) you won't go back ... I've even got a little 14500 Chi Sleek if I ever need something "dressy" :)

Good luck, vape on!!

I don't see how anyone can really chain vape without a large carto-tank or bottom fed system. How many milliliters do you go through in a day? Chain vapers go through 6+. I would consider myself an average 3-4 milliliter vaper. When I'm bored and sitting in front of the computer, it actually annoys me to have to get up and refill my EVOD clearos more than twice per day and I swap at least 3 different flavors throughout the day. There is a learning curve with carto tanks but it's not rocket science. They are my next evolutionary step in vaping but I'm unemployed right now so I'm sticking with my EVODs & Protanks for now. My 808 set with their tiny little 1 ml clearos was purchased strictly for keeping in my pocket at work for potty breaks & stairwells. I'm not going outside with the smokers ever again!

If you are able to vape where ever you are all day, dripping would be your purest/cleanest flavor tasting option.

I was having these same issues. I went thru the vision cleros, they would be great then all of a sudden, yuck. Then I bought evods, meh, no burnt taste but no real taste at all. Then I tried the rbc's again meh, no real taste. Finally I have settled on the Vision Vivi Nova minis and the Vision Vivi nova 3.5. Wonderful. I am using the new dual core wicks in them, and I am finally happy with the flavor and taste. I also tried the Smok Tech Vivi Nova, and the vision is by far better.

I've never taken the time to find out how much liquid I go through. Hard to ascertain in the short term when I'm topping off 3 clearos with 3 diff bottles of juice several times a day. I'd estimate 5-6.

You all are piquing my interest on the carto tanks. I have been reading about them and am willing to invest the time and money to get set up, but still have a couple of concerns. First, the filling. When I was using V2 Cigs' cartridges (prefilled, then refilled), I didn't like the way they tasted and inconsistency of hits. Perhaps this is just a failing of the brand, but it makes me hesitant to go back to carts/cartos. Secondly, the replacing of the coils. With my V2 EX Blanks clearos, I can keep refilling for weeks, clean them out with vinegar & hot water, and reuse again and again. The three I bought 5mos ago are still going strong (though I did "spring" for 3 more recently, for comparison purposes and convenience), so at this point all I really need to buy is juice. If I switch to a carto tank, I'll be adding the recurring cost of replacement parts and upkeep. I've read the coils need replacing after anywhere from a couple of days to 3wks... Who is right? Or does it depend on brand, implementation/skill? I'd like to keep my recurring expenses to a minimum.

Thinking that the box mods may be the way to go for me. Unless I'm missing something, once the setup is purchased I will only need to keep buying the juice, and the occasional new battery. At around $140, it is definitely an investment I want to do my homework on. I'm looking at the REOs since they seem to be most popular, but I'm looking for quality and simplicity so any suggestions on that would be helpful as well.

One more thing- at this point I'm assuming I should go ahead and grab some 510 batteries, no matter which of the above options I end up going with. Kanga EVOD starter kit ok? Got a link to a great price ($30 total) from a friend ;)

As I said before, I started with the V2 as well, still have a bunch of the V2 cartos and a couple of batteries (along with some other 808 batteries), my mom is using those... along with her analogs, she just refuses to listen, I gave her one of my non VV ego's, told her to at least try it, it's not going to be 'normal' until she's used it a bit... anyway, that's another story!!! The carto tanks are nothing like that, in fact I feel like I get so much more flavor with mine, with the clearos I was tasting the weird burnt (metal to me) flavor and it was SO airy it just doesn't work for me! I feel like the carto tank is so much more natural as far as draw, it feels like I'm smoking because it's not so open/airy (which has kept me satisfied enough not to want an analog and I was still craving them when I was using the other tanks). I didn't get near the flavor I get with them, with the clearos. I was concerned too when I was trying to figure out what to do, I though 'Cartomizers, like on my V2???? How on earth is that going to make me happy???' I was still smoking with the V2, it didn't do enough for me to quit. Idk if it's having the tank with it or what it is, maybe it's just that these cartos are made better, but it DOES work, WAY better then the other cig a like cartos I've used.

As I said before, I am NO expert and I would never tell anyone (other then my kiddos of course lol) what to do, I'm simply telling you what worked for me. It works WELL, it really has changed everything for me. I'm sure there are other, bigger, 'better', more expensive things out there, I'm just stepping into all of this, but for me and my budget, I am very happy. I (am a big baby lol) was in tears because I thought I was going to have to give up before reading about and then watching GrimmGreen talk about the carto tanks.

As far as the evod kit, that's up to you, if you're just going to replace the tanks anyway, Idk that I would personally buy one. I would definitely suggest picking up a couple of ego twist or vision spinner batteries, get a charger and then figure out what tank you want. The link I sent with the Smok Tech Pyrex carto tank is the best price I've found (and I did a lot of research trying to find the best prices). I had a lot of people really pushing the VV on me when I first started so I won't do that, the regular ego battery will work fine too, I personally just like having the extra customization options, I am always switching up the voltage (lower in the AM and then I turn it up from there).

Oh and here's a link for the cartos that I found too...
Pre Punched Replacement tank cartomizers
I like that they're cheaper then other places and there are options.

I started with V2 also, and like with you, they got me off cigs and into vaping. So they have a place in my heart.

But, I had similar problems. The prefilled carts went dry in an hour; the clearo's gummed up or burned (even after I switched to Kanger Esmarts, which are much better, IMO, than the EX blanks). The taste went south. Battery life declined. And when I used the V2 power cig, it seemed to fry my carts (I think it runs at 5 volts?)

I don't hate V2. Like I said, they got me started, and I still keep them charged "just in case". But when I bought an iTaste vv v3, the world changed. Now I'm vaping near-zero nic all day long with no issues at all, with better taste, hit, and clouds that I ever got off V2. And with variable wattage, the last draw before charging is exactly like the first one after charging. Incredible.

I don't know your e-cig budget, but as a former V2 user I assure you, you need to upgrade if you can. It doesn't cost that much compared to the prices V2 gets for juice and clearos. If you're interested I'll post a link to the itaste I just bought (and that a lot of folks on here seem to be buying).

Not sure if this is already mentioned (just scanned the posts)

some things i learned while chain vaping
- rotate 2 - 4 tanks through out the day. don't chain vape on a single mod and tank.
- have juices with different level of nic. use high level nic for extra kick. this can cut down on chain vaping amount
- use contracting flavors in rotation
- always listen to your body and stop vaping if you don't feel comfortable

good luck

i chain vape my PT2 and PT3 when i am home and just play change the voltage game when it starts getting a burnt, dry or metallic taste
