So here's my issue. I quit smoking about 6 weeks ago now. I've been buying e-liquids in the 10-12mg range because I love vaping so much that I actually wanted to chain vape  Unfortunately, chain-vaping has taken its toll on my pocket book (I'm quickly burning through cartos, atomizers, e-liquids). Plus, chain-vaping obviously isn't practical. I need to get this under control.

What I'm thinking of doing is increasing the nic level of the e-liquids I purchase to 18mg for now (with some in 24mg for when I really need my "fix"). Does that seem like a good solution to help me not vape so dang much?

I'd love to hear all of your experiences on this topic of chain-vaping, and raising/lowering your nic levels. Have any of you run into a similar situation? Did increasing the nic levels of your juices help?

Thanks,
Dave

i started at 24mg and now vape 8-12mg (3 months in). i do not really notice any nic cravings when i go extended periods of time without vaping. for the records i was a 1.5 PAD smoker for 12 years.

i wanted to get to lower nic (eventually zero nic) which was my motivation to move down from 24mg.

i chain vape like crazy at home, but when i drive or am out of the house, i do not chain vape, and i am fine. obviously everyone will feel differently.

the main point of my ramble is that i no longer can use 24mg, it makes me feel sick after a very short while, and because i like to chain vape, i like the lower mg. if you wanted to vape less, higher nic would probabaly help a lot, since chain vaping with high nic levels will more than likely make you feel sick.

I just upped my mg for the same reason. It didn't help. I still chain vape. Fortunately I started at 6 and went to 12 so I haven't had any adverse reaction to chain vaping at the higher nic level. I'm afraid to go to 18 or higher. I was a chain smoker, so I think for me it's more the pacifier thing than the nicotine. I think I'll go lower nic again.

If you still end up chain vaping at the higher nic level, I would recommend a bottom feeder mod using attys and look into DIY for the juice. In the long run you'll save money.

It's just my philosophy, but I was a 46 year 2 PaD smoker and quit 'bakky on my first vape. I started with 24mg and within a week dropped to 18mg, my current level.

With that said, I could care less how much I vape now (check my sig line, it's da truth!) I really don't care how much I vape nor the co$t. In my mind, I'm FREE!

Keep in mind that I am retired. If I were still working, then that would be an issue that would have to be addressed. I'd only be worried about vaping opportunities and management acceptance. As to how much I vape... phttt!

I smoked lights before switching, started at 12 mg but went to 6 mg because I knew I would vape more, no longer have to go outside for instance. I also knew I would vape more due to the urge for analogs. I did not want to take in twice as much nic when I switched. I chain vape 5-8 mls a day and get plenty of nic.

If cost is the matter, I would look into why you're going through so many attys/cartos as well as juice cost. I started with 4 standard 510 attys 5 months ago, dry burn almost daily, still using them. At $4-$8 each, cost is not bad. Good cartos @ $1.20 a pop can also last a week or two, some longer. If you buy your favorite juice in quantity, that can drop to 20 cents per ml or lower pending vendor. Vaping costs me about $1 a day and that's much less than analogs.

If you need more nic, it's different. But if your body gets used to more nic and you still vape more...

Actually, the main reason I chain-vape is because I love vaping so dang much. I don't miss analogs at all; the thought of smoking again nauseates me. But I figured that if I up the nicotine, I'll be forced to take it easy. So I guess that's my plan for now. And, psychologically, try to force myself to put the PV down sometimes :sigh:

Well, I do clean my cartos fairly often, but I'm scared to boil them. I have a Sidesho (soon to upgrade to a LUX) and I'm using the cartos from Modern Vapor. It seems like their cartos wouldn't be safe to boil (maybe I'm wrong, and if anyone can tell me otherwise, I'd love to hear it). When I look inside the carto, the foamy material is wrapped around a plastic tube. Wouldn't the plastic tube melt if I boiled them? Do other 510 cartos have the plastic tube in the center? I thought I saw photos once, and they didn't...

I had some prefilled KR808 cartos with an air tube in the middle, never boiled them and don't even use cartos anymore so can't advise, sorry. Like I said, I'm using attys and carts of all things.

I hear on ECF Boge 2.0 cartos are very popular and people do clean them. Some folks get weeks and months on one carto, but I'll leave carto experts to help you with that. Search for carto cleaning? But trust me, there are ways to cut vaping costs.

Edit: this is a good deal Crystal Clear Vaping, but I saw swedishfish with a better deal, check with her/him?

Every carto I use has a center tube, I can't say if it's plastic or not as I never took any apart. It would be my guess that they are all made with similar materials. Many people have success boiling, some people use turkey basters to force water through them, other people use the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/200782-cartomizerfillinator.html method to clean by using water instead of juice.

That's interesting. Well, if others have boiled them and the center tube didn't melt, then I suppose it's worth a shot. I'll try it on one that's pretty much useless to me at this point (nearly dead) and see what happens. Thanks.

You're back to attys and carts? That's like going back to VHS from DVD

Thanks, I'll look into the Boge cartos, and the link you provided. I appreciate it.

And for others who are experts with cartos, are the Boge cartos compatible with the Sidesho?

Actually, it doesn't get cheaper than this. I spent $3 on carts and $3 on blue foam, enough to last half a lifetime, still using same attys that came with the Joye 510 kit. I spend 5 minutes a day total filling 10 carts twice. Did spend $30 on Riva 510s - bid spender that I am! :) Try a search for "carto cleaning" too.

Edit: here's a good thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69499-clean-cartomizers-quick-easy-lol.html#post1027183

I doubt very much that the Boge cartos are compatible with the Sidesho. I don't know what model that is, but the cartos threads don't look like 510 and it's most definitely not an 808. I haven't seen any other carto types made by Boge. However if you're happy with what you have, just try cleaning. Just make sure you let them dry very thoroughly before using again or your juice will taste very "off".

If you're going to upgrade to the Lux anyway, I would suggest you consider the eGo instead. The Lux is a 902, not sure what else it is compatible with . The eGo is a 510, and is compatible with anything else 510 (which is a lot ;) ). Other than the threads, the Lux batt looks to have the same features as an eGo. Proprietary is bad when you're looking for options, compatible is good.

Well, to each their own. From my (limited) experience, one cartomizer lasts a lot longer than one atomizer (or about the same amount of time), and I can get 5 cartomizers for the same price as one atty. That's just how it works out for me at least. Plus the idea of cutting foam, filling carts, etc. sounds unpleasant to me. Thanks for the link though!

I'm looking to try out these cartos actually:Boge 510 Cartomizers for 510 or eGo They're definitely 510. Would you know if they're compatible with the Sidesho?
