I've noticed some of my liquids have a chalky taste. It's hard to explain. It doesn't seem to be one particular flavor (fruit or dessert, etc.). Does anyone know of a good fixer?
It might be your vg. I know it can get yucky when it gets old.

It could be your VG I guess. .I doubt it's bad, but when I was mixing with almost exclusively VG (I am PG sensitive) I would occasionally get a chalky juice, although that kind of leads me to believe it COULD have been a flavoring issue. To much ethyl maltol can definitely mute flavors. At the right percentage, it can add nice mouthfeel and body to juices, but I never use EM on its own, although I do use some EM "offenders' like merengue, marshmallow and cotton candy to round out mixes, but I use them in a pretty low percentage.

I will say, now that I am mixing with PEG400 (it's a PG variant) the flavors seem much cleaner, crisper, and not muted at all. I'm going to assume that PEG400 is a good flavor carrier, more like PG.

So I'd say check your EM flavors, maybe try less, and if you continue to get chalkiness perhaps look at raising your PG slightly.

I'm not 100% convinced of exactly what it is, I'm just kind of sharing my experience with that. I hope you get it sorted out.

I haven't been using EM, so I'm thinking it might be my VG. However some of my commercial liquids have this taste too and I was wondering if Magic Mask might help?

IDK. I ordered Magic Mask but I haven't used it in mixing yet. It could be worth a shot. I have enjoyed other additives/agents in some of my mixes, but I haven't specifically used Mask but I heard enough good things about it to order some. I should be mixing sometime this century (LOL, my life got busy all of a sudden.) I will try to remember to report back.

I’ve noticed marshmallow also adds moisture, as does distilled water and saline. But I haven’t experience with the latter. I’m sure there are others but these come to mind first, along with cacti. Hope you resolve this! Please let us know if and how you do:)

I like Marshmallow as a sweetener. It also adds a nice mouth feel (body) to the vapor.
