Well good luck... those solder points are EXTREMELY small. I would guess if your really good at soldering (if you could change leds in the old nokia cell phones/mod consoles) it should work out alright.

As far as instructions i would assume its pretty easy (in theory), pop off the led ashcap, flip over the board, remove old led and install new led. In practice i assume that it might be pretty damn hard.

no no no, you do not need to remove the old LED!

you can remove the whole board that the LED is on.

you will have two bare wires sticking up.

now you can solder on a regular sized LED to the two wires!

what I do is cut the posts of the LED very short.

I also grind down the lens of the LED with a Dremel so it will fit.

Here is a picture of a lime green loongtotem battery:

(and yes, it is as bright as it looks, I can use it as a flashlight!)

If your going to piggyback a led, make sure that the board or leads leading to the board only have a positive and negative. M401s only have a positive and negative leads, while 901s have a positive, negative, as well as a signal lead. If you were to soldier the led directly i assume that the additional led would remain as a constantly closed circuit, or (less likely) as a constantly open, meaning that the led would be either on or off ALL of the time.
