I would leave the LED alone. The light is a good indicator of the battery kicking into a cleaning cycle, when it needs a charge and when the battery cuts out due to a lengthy inhale. The benefits the light provides out weighs the little bit of power you will save.

I own DSE 901 as well and usually get 2 hours to a charge with heavy vaping. I have learn to supplement the battey usage with a USB Pass Through and a modded battery box.

I wouldn't bother. the TINY LED is mounted on a TINY PCB, and you might screw something else up.

i ordered a dse901 kit. i have read that the battery life for it sucks. i havent got it yet so dont know the life of the battery is good or not for my self. any one know if disconnecting that LED in the tip of them would help with battery life?

thanks for the replies.

majsetic. i smoke half a short marlboro red then about 20 to 30 minutes later i smoke the other half. if i smoke like with the 901 you think ill be ok with battery life?
the kit i kit only came with 2 and dont have the funds to get more batteries yet.

Doesn't sound like you'll be a heavy vapor. Considering your projected usage, you will probably do Ok on the 2 batteries even though they take about 4 hours to recharge. Only through trial and error will you learn how long they will last.

Keep in mind that batteries don't last forever. In the near future you should consider an extra as well as a couple of extra atomizers. That way if one or the other should die you will have a instant backup. Otherwise you will be at the mercy of the postman waiting for supplies to be delivered.

A USB Pass Through would be a good addition as well. That will allow you to vape around the computer and thus conserve your battery usage. I frequently shop at AltSmoke for supplies. Rob's prices are good, shipping is very reasonable and his service is excellent.

I think we have all been there when it comes to shipping. This past week I had a similiar experience with UPS. I was awaiting delivery of a package and UPS left it parked at their distribution center since I paid for 3rd day delivery. Had they not parked it, I would have had the delivery one day after it was shipped. The main thing is to build a little stock pile of supplies when your budget permits.

A kit for $50 with two batteries and 2 atomizers sounds like a good deal. I would still suggest investing $19 for a USB Pass Through. That will help eliminate the dependency on batteries. For a couple of bucks you can also buy USB power sources for your car and home so that you can use the Pass Through when you are away from the computer. If your handy with electrical projects, about $9 will get you the parts at Radio Shack to build a AA battery box to power your atomizer. Otherwise check out the Classified Ad section of the forum here as some folks are selling them as well.

What would the led do for cleaniung/dead on an M201?

Probably nothing.

The LED on a DSE 901 battery is just an indicator that the battery itself is starting a cleaning cycle where the coil gets heated for so many seconds in an attempt to burn off the residue. I don't know if the M201 has a similiar feature, but I doubt a cleaning cycle will revive a dead atomizer if that is what you are referring to. From my own experience, I've had the cleaning cycle fry the atomizer when it came on while changing the cartridge so I tend to unscrew the battery when I see it come on.
