Nice trick if you're in a rush to recharge your phone and don't need to use it at that moment is throw it into airplane mode. Constantly pinging the cell tower is a significant drain on the battery. You can leave the wifi on and connect that way, even make calls if your phone and wireless company support wifi calling. your phone will charge that much faster as you're not "draining it while filling".

I use my phone for all my internet, tethering all other devices to it.

Now, I am NOT speaking for all mods, but the ones I have (I've done this with my single mods, and my dual mods, especially my many TC100W which is a parallel mod), I've tested and can confirm that:

1) the charging is balanced the batteries after being charged many many times, are still coming out as the proper reading.
2) I can monitor the in-going power and the chipset does not stop the power flow when you pull the trigger, the power continues being fed to the mod as normal.

And the fact is, people need to move away from the old myths about mods and charging... if charging through the device was bad in any way, the manufacturers wouldn't build it in. It would mean that every device that uses lithium batteries would be doing it wrong, and as most work in series, we'd have lawsuits going on non-stop for all manufacturers for all devices, from cell phones, power tools, vacuum cleaners, battery packs, laptops, etc..

Can you charge your batteries while smoking on the G-Priv?
If it can, sure. Lithium batteries take more abuse than they're given credit for. And most people don't understand the reasons for the warnings and why they're no longer applicable.

If you're unit starts getting hot, stop that practice.

A good internet myth is hard to kill.

I've been trying on this site to kill the myth that charge to discharge and back on a lithium cell needs rest periods since I signed up.

The batteries in my RCs? Yeah! Sure.

But I don't rest them anyhow.

But I'm charging them at 30 AMPS and pulling 180 amp peaks from them.

BIG difference!

After last night i stopped using USB charging for my Gpriv. It was 43% and i kept it usb plugged in via my computer for 7 hours and it was only at 54%
However, i have not charged it via a plug in usb charger via outlet....that may actually work, and work well. I may try it. But i dont get why if my kbox 200 can charge via computer, the gpriv would not??? Ive always had success with my kbox 200 via charge through a computer, while vaping on it frequently.
I just got the gpriv 3 days ago, and just been using my external charger. It gets annoying sometimes taking the rubber case off, and magnetic back. But i can get use to it.

On a side note...the gpriv usb is on the bottom of the device. Wouldnt one find it annoying having to lay it down vs letting it sit up? Or am i just to use to the kbox? Lol

Try turning it off... possibly if the screen is staying on during the charging, it's sucking the incoming power. But if's just three days old, maybe you got a defective one.

If you have a wall charger that outputs either 1A or 2A, give that a try to see if that makes a difference.

I think the li batteries got off to a bum start because manufactures tried to rush them out the door, the old head lines and dead lines. By the time I got my first vaporizer most of the li panic had ended. They have 12 V lithium batteries for cars and you don't hear anything about that.
They have the same pressure releasing features as the old Ni cad batteries had. Its nice the warnings are there, even car batteries have explosion warnings.

Ugh, i hate to think of having a defected one. But here is the odd thing, there are numerous reports of usb charging issues with the g priv, i learned of this before experiancing it myself and had disregarded them.
I have yet to to try the wall charger yet but ill make sure before i go to the b&m with the issue. Even then...i still have an external charger but if the usb is defective it might make upgrading impossible for firmware.

Well, I hope thing work out.

I've seen too many reports of issues with it, the screen and such that I took it off my "wish list".

While I have a different SMOK mod, I was disappointed with it, and bit by bit, SMOK has kinda lost me at this point. I'm aiming to get a couple of Predators actually with Easter sales happening.

I have quite a different view point of Smok, in particular the G-Priv. I've followed the vids of this model along and you can see improvements in the navigation menu. Making adjustments is quicker and easier using the screen instead of quick clicks. Since I've had it I've used the external charger, it works fine without updates and I've heard updates fail and you're left with nothing. The best vaporizer and tank for flavor and vapor production.
Keep up the great work Smok.
Sorry to hear about your problem NTN

So you're saying...
  • They needed to improve the navigation.
  • You don't trust the onboard charging
  • Updates could brick it
Yet you claim "the best" and "keep up the good work"?

o_O:rolleyes::confused::blink:

If you drive... would you, by any chance, own a Volkswagen?

I am trying to say they sent out earlier models to be reviewed, and made modifications to the navigation because of the reviews. I actually lost a computer because of problems with the usb port, my first thought was I wonder if charging the vaporizers had done this, Now I don't think so but that was my first thought. Anyways I stopped using the usb ports for vaporizers and want the balanced charging of the charger. I have heard a person say he tried the update and it caused him to lose the use of the vaporizer. Never like buying something and then having to update the firmware.
I'm satisfied with the vaporizer, the Big Baby Beast tank gets very good reviews and I'm waiting to try the Cloud Beast RBA edition. You should watch some of the Cloud Beast reviews on you tube, insane, ridiculous, .
Car wise, a little off topic but I'll go along, when looking for another car I did look at the Volkswagon, I got a very good deal on a Chevy that's been very good through the years.
