Don't mean to be offensive...... Cost money to get a good Mod..... However, in the long run, it is cheap...... I smoked 2 to 3 packs of cigs / day at 8 USD a pack...... That is well over 400 USD per month...... I bought a GG Transformer from a 3rd party for 170 USD..... Bought adapters for 510, 801 and 901 for 36 USD and an AFS for 50 USD..... Total is approx 250 USD plus charger and batteries..... Maybe a total of 325 USD...... 325 USD seems like a lot for smoking..... Am already ahead by at least 75 USD..... Now all I got to do is buy occassional atomizers and liquid...... Maybe 50 USD a month.......
That is a savings of roughly 4200 USD a year...... Not to mention my health improvements...... Maybe you should re-think.......
If I buy a regular E-Cig, 510, 801 or 901, got to buy periodic batteries, atomizers, PCC's and Pass Throughs..... Played that game with Titan 510...... Cost much more......
My GG runs on 3.7 or 6.0 volts...... Comes standard 901, adapts to 510 and 801..... Now they offer AFS for less filling...... My batteries last 2 days, AFS fluid lasts hours for less agravation...... I will gladly invest 400 USD to save 4200 USD..... Just an opinion......

First off, the Protoge is 3.7v only, I have 2 on order :)

Things I know run at 5v, or can:
Puresmoker usb passthrough, but you need a pc or better yet a wall socket, or portable usb power pack etc: for ez power I suggest this: USB Dual Power Adapter

Prodigy V2: When they get it remade has 2 switch options, either with resistor for 5v only, and w/o resistor for either 3.7 or 6v+ depending on the batteries used. You could buy both switches if you wish. this along with the usbpass at: PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!

GLV 5v: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Vaprlife have the VP3 comming out at 5v: VaprLife

Then there are a few modders here that made multivolt devices, I can think of 2 off the top of my head, send pm for names if you cant find them and want to know :) (<---shameless attempt at not breaking the rules)

There may be some I missed, and am sure that will be corrected by some kind soul :)

There are lots of BB mods out there, but the absolute best IMO is the Chuck. There are a lot of reasons why I say it's the best.

1) You can run it on 3.7V or 6V. (that doesn't really put it ahead, as other BB mods can do that too)
2) All copper body. This puts it ahead of a lot of BB mods, because most are aluminum body which has higher resistance so you don't get the full voltage to your atty. I have heard (from ppl that own both) that a 3.7V chuck hits like other 5V mods.
3) Quality workmanship. These are hand built by one guy (Jeff) in his shop, not mass produced. He takes great pride in the building of his product and has a one year warranty to back it up. The thing is built like a tank.
4) Customizable. This is the thing that separates the Chuck from ALL other mods. There are many colors to choose from. These are not just spray-paint jobs either. They are powder coated (like a paint job on a car) so it is very durable. Best of all, you can email your own custom graphics to him and he will put them on and clear-coat them in.
5) Price. Most BB mods are selling for $100+. Jeff sells the Chuck for $80 shipped.

Anyone interested can check them out here:
THAG BUILT: You think you can break it?

It's a very long thread but you can see the progression of the Chuck from it's conception. If you want to see some of the latest works, go to the end and work your way back.

BTW: the pics of the illusion colors don't do them justice. In person they are absolutely gorgeous.

Guys, the Chuck is great, but the OP specifically asked for 5 volts, not 6 or 3.7.

(Though it's worth noting that the 18650 in the Chuck runs at around 4.2v when fully charged, and stays right up there for a long time -- at least several hours to a day, and lasts for several days before needing to be recharged).

Yeah, It is not 5v... that's why I added the statement that I have read from many users that a Chuck at 4.2V vapes as good or better than other 5V mods.

You have to keep this in mind with 5V mods...There are no 5V batts, so there are only two ways to get 5V. (from current batteries)
1) use two 3V batts and a resistor to bring the voltage across the atty down...Downfalls: A) two 3V batts are not going to get the capacity of a single larger battery. B) the resistor wastes some of the energy, making the capacity even lower.
2) use a 'step-up' DC converter. This also wastes some of the energy and lowers the rated capacity of the battery.

Oh yeah, and 3) use a zener diode with the 2x 3V batts to 'clip' to 5V. But again, 2x3V = lower capacity than a single larger batt.

I've owned a Chuck for 3 days now, and I've been using it almost exclusively with 6v.

I have a 'package deal' for batteries/charger for the 16340 3.7v for the Little Chuck I have on order, and the charger SAYS it will also charge the 18650 3.,7 batteries for the Chuck, but the LED lights on the charger never turn on or always stay red, and the battery manufacturer's website says that's an indication that it's the wrong kind of charger for that battery. So I have SOME charge on the 18650's, but I'm not sure it's 'right'. I have a different charger on order, so I'm waiting for that to come to really 'judge' the 18650's vaping. (The charger I originally got seems to work fine with the 16340 batteries in terms of the leds on the charger and the adapter.)

I love vaping with the 6v - this is the first time I've ever tried a high voltage mod.

But I love my Chuck, and hope to have my Little Chuck with a very custom design in another week or so.

No one has mentioned this yet - The Chuck OR the Little Chuck costs $80 including shipping within the US and the customization is free.

I've been following the Chuck thread for weeks, ordered my batteries for a Little Chuck in advance, ordered the Little Chuck, and then an option opened up for me to get a finished Chuck 'immediately'. I took that option and got the Chuck a day before my batteries arrived, so I bought some non-rechargeable batteries just to have SOMETHING I could use with the Chuck - CR123a 3v camera batteries from a local store. This 6v vaping is FANTASTIC! Better flavor, better vapor, and not harsh/hot unless I hold the switch down 'too long' - for me that's more than 5 seconds. I'm using 901 atomizers.

Hi,I have been thinking about getting a little chuck, been to his site and love the custom paint jobs! I was a little confused, does he sell batts and atomizers with the chuck and does it take 901 or 801 atomizers or both? If he doesn't sell the batteries where do I get them?
He sells only the unit itself, with a connector for 1 atty size (510, 801 or 901). If you get a 510 connector, you can get adapters for 801 or 901 from AltSmoke. If you get either an 801 or 901 connector, AltSmoke sells an adapter for a 510 atty (and I think there might be someone else somewhere who sells 801-901 adapters).

You can get batteries from BatteryJunction or (if you don't mind waiting) from DealExtreme in China. If you order batteries (and charger) from China around the same time you order your Chuck, you're likely to have them arrive around the same time (although there's no guarantee on the batteries).

I was wondering the same thing about batteries and a charger for them. I am pretty sure it would work for a 901-801 or 510 but wanna be able to buy the batts and charger also!

I got my batts and charger from batteryjunction as a kit (14.99 I think) and got them two days after ordering. I would recommend getting the chuck with a 510. That way you can get the adapter and use with 801 or 901.

It may bother some that the Chuck doesn't come in a package deal with batts and attys, but it's 80 bucks! If you compare to GLV or SB, yeah they will give you that stuff, but it's $140 by the time you add the extras and pay for shipping.

You can buy a Chuck (a one-of-a-kind custom chuck that is made just for YOU.) and the batts charger and atty for less than one of the other cookiecutter, mass-produced mods.

I HIGHLY recommend the Chuck!!! And I bet if you ask anyone who owns one, they would highly recommend it too. (that speaks volumes)

Another thing that speaks volumes is that a lot of ppl that order one Chuck, end up ordering another (and another...) because the love it so much. I doubt that happens with GLV or SB owners ;)

Well, in all fairness, they're collecting custom chucks. It's not like we're all getting three matte black chucks.

I cannot say much about what 5v is "supposed" to be like. As a direct comparison that I CAN make: On a 510 chuck with a 18650 battery using Dekang juice, 8mg 555 juice at 3.7v has only slightly less throat hit than 18mg Marlboro from a 510 standard (fresh off the charger) battery. The chuck, as expected, delivers considerably more vapor.

I've tried it at 6v, and while it was nice while my non-rechargeable CR123As lasted, I don't miss it with the 3.7v performance I get.

Exactly my point :)

Yeah, the 510 doesn't really like 6V. The vapor gets a little too hot and harsh (IMO). The 801/901 is great at 6V though.

If you don't want to mod and want a cheap portable 5v solution something like a Kensington battery and a passthrough is the cheapest alternative to a mod. Be careful with 510's though because many 510 passthroughs come with a intermediate battery so you'd end up with 3.7v's. Anything over 5 volts is going to kill atty's and for me kills flavour and the temperature of the vapour is too hot to be enjoyable.
