Can I just get ss rope from a hardware store?

As long as it is not galvanized. There are some good threads on ECF about SS cable

ekowool top...

Some might ask why not just use the 7X19 3/32" ss rope? INMO the coil gets more surface are contact with the ekowool on the tear drop shaped twisted ss strand. The shape stretches the ekowool wide and flat.

Hey iTEO, I had the idea to pull out one single strand of the cable (mine have become pretty loose, been in use for a while {torched a few times}), and loop it around. You would have the full cable in the tank pulling liquid, and the one strand looped. Thoughts?

Hey, I was wondering where can I buy the SS rope? And did you drill a bigger air hole into your rsst?

I took some time and tried this today. I have a couple RSST's and had just been using 400 mesh on them. I used 28g 8 wraps on one of the larger paper clips with ekowool up top, came out dead on 1 ohm which is kinda what I was shooting for (well, I woulda been ok w/ it between .8 and 1.2 so yea). This was my first micro/nano coil. Really impressive vapor production but *holy crap* it EATS juice.. lol
