Checking cartos for duds

I usually check cartos for resistance when I get them to ferret out duds. I would consider one a dud if it showed either an open circuit or extremely high resistance. Many times the resistance is not dead on ...... say you buy 1.7 ohm cartos.... some may test out at 1.5 and others will be 1.9 (these numbers are examples). They are not duds, but rather just slightly off the advertised resistance.
It's a good idea to check the vendor site before purchasing to see what their policy is on DOA cartos. I think some have a no return policy and others will take back ones that are DOA.

Thanks for the info. That is what I did last nite on a bunch of cartos I bought and all tested good. :) For a few bad ones out of the bunch I bought, I wouldn't bother trying to return, but if I had maybe a box or two of bad ones, I'd try to return them.
