I'm at work and my vertical coil/cotton is burning in my kayfun clone. I new I should have changed it. Been running about 2 weeks. Anyway, I'm asking around for anybody with q-tips and this lady has cotton cheesecloth. Anybody ever tried it? I've got my backups with me so I'm good. Just curious what others have to say and I might try it later if I don't hear anything bad

I use cheese cloth from wally world all the time. Take a look at the threads and see if you have more threads running one way than the other, and if you do, keep the most threads running length wise and the lesser amount running cross wise. Cut a half inch strip, pick two threads and stay between them to cut, then add a smaller strip to make two wick and check them for fit. You can quickly figure out how small or large to make the second wick to fit your coil, then duplicate that for future wicks. Roll your strips, don't twist. If you need to twist to get them in the coil, then cut one of them down instead. They should pull in with the barest hint of resistance, and give at least 15 minutes soak time if possible.

I think I made that sound more complicated than it actually is, but hope you get the idea. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
