From a a standalone point of view, yes, of course they are - and should be - of concern. I don't do buttery/creamy or custard flavors for that reason.
But there aren't that many desert flavours out there. At a rough guess they make up 10-20% of the available eliquids, whereas Dr. Farsalinos found chemicals of concern in 69%. Of course, since he knew what he was looking for he might have bought mostly desert flavours, but he hasn't said so.

We won't know until the study is published of course, and then we will.

Also, keep in mind, WE are the ones the long term studies will be done on. I think the longest vaping only so far is at best 6 years(?). And then, who's to say that our previous smoking habit didn't cause any issues that crop up down the road.

The only way, and this isn't even perfect if you take into account genetics, a true study can be done on people and vaping is to study those that have never smoked and only vaped.

Mind boggling to say the least.

Great thread. :)

what ever the result of the long term studies i am sure any health concerns that may be associated with vaping
will pale in comparison to smoking.one of my concerns is VG use among diabetics.i have known cooks who had to quit cooking
because of absorption of oil from the fryers elevated there cholesterol.
i myself never had any purging of the lungs, probably because i coughed and hacked all day.
that disappeared completely after one week. now when i cough(very, very rarely)my wife asks me
if i'm coming down with something.from what i have read in the studies out so far is vaping is so much
safer than smoking its a no brainer.i believe any adverse affects found in future studies will be minimal
and work arounds will be developed so fast it will make the folks at the FDA's heads spin.

100% agree. If we ever do "know" it will be a real long time from now. In the interrim, all we can do is grab hold of this great harm reduction method, and reduce the harm even more, based on some stuff we may find out along the way.

"Previous smoking habit" is why I always suggest checking out any odd mouth, throat, lip, tongue, or chest problems if any appear.
As an ex-smoker I have never considered myself under a safety umbrella having switched to vaping. I have simply reduced my harm GOING FORWARD.
