I've seen these done before, I've successfully made a few...but it has practically zero flavor. I've gotten past the initial cotton taste and there is virtually nothing there.

10 wraps of 30ga Kanthal around a 18ga needle, 1.8Ω (VV Ver 3 reads it at 1.5) no shorts, vapor production seems to be fine. I tried to not overstuff it with cotton, did make sure that the outside of the coil has cotton on it, so it shouldn't be a wicking problem. It is just nowhere near as good as a microcoil mounted the normal way.

Thanks! Now I have a good excuse not to try it. :)

The builds I've seen look interesting for novelty value if nothing else, but I can't help thinking that it's a completely different animal. The effective surface area is a good deal less: Inside of coil < Outside of coil.

I still may try it one day, but there's no rush now, thanks to your report.

I am still ...... I misspelled "chimney" in the title of this thread.

However, I think I finally got the amount of cotton right. Good flavor, currently vaping (well, when I can break away from the Hawk Sauce on the Nemesis/PT3) some MBV Strawbana and the vapor is there, the flavor...so yeah, not a bad coil. I am still undecided if it is worth the effort compared to a regularly mounted coil, but not bad. And at least I can say I've done it.

I stand corrected on my previous post about low ohm coils in a protank build. Tonight I drilled a Kanger airflow controller air holes bigger and now enjoying a .6 ohm hemp build with my protank1. I used a 1/16 bit to drill with.

Post #30 in the clearomizer thread
