Another busy week.
Actual work-work has a lot going on, but still finding time to play at camp. Picnic table all put together, stained. Two coats of paint on the new exterior living room wall, today I'll cut out the window holes, prime them, maybe put the storm windows in at the very end of the day. Window trim boards cut, time to prime them. I'll still have some work to do on the upper half of the wall, the triangular part covering the attic area, but I'll go the lazy way out, a few wood screws, caulk seams, paint, add some Z drip edge; skip replacing that part until next year.
Concrete mixer's put together, though I'll ask DW to lend a hand so I can tighten the motor pulley (a little too much slack, need one person pushing down while the other tightens bolts). Added another external faucet off the pump box, with long hose, to get a good source of water for the mixer. Hopefully I'll get to fire up the mixer, just a half bag test, some concrete to firm up a post
Then I get to start the main job for this season, the deck. Hopefully the existing porch has a nice beam with good supports at the front edge, but I won't know until I remove a section of the skirt going around the crawl space. If it's clean, then only 3 new columns along the front of the deck; if it's weak, more holes for added supports on the porch-side connection. Since it's a flood plain, we end up needing around 20" pads at the bottom of each column, nominal 42" depth (or until we hit water

). You move 4x as much dirt per column to do a 20" diameter as a 10" diameter, so fewer is better. I've done all my previous stuff by hand, think I'll look at renting a 2 person auger for this round; $80 for a day's rental will save a lot of shoveling
Oh, also have to do a little prep, doing open water dives, certifying a class this weekend.
