Choices....

Z-Day is here, you can only carry limited supplies. All travel is on foot, no ATV's, vehicles, electric carts etc.

You will have to choose your items carefully. You are allowed to pick:

1- long gun- high powered rifle or shotgun? 22 or sks? AR15 or sub-compact? pick just one...

1- hand gun- revolver or pistol? what caliber?

1- Silent weapon- crossbow or compound bow or sword?

1- survival style back pack- what do you carry in the pack with you?

So what would you choose and why?

I'm leaning towards a 357 and a sword as my primary weapons. I'm working on my go-bag, or backpack. Here are the items I hope to have mostly pre-prepared for any collapse of society up to and including UFO or Zombie attack:
(May also include Mac-Attack!) **right now, I'm working at minimizing my backpack so it won't weigh too much for me to carry;

Metal canteen for water
Canned meat, beans & dried fruit, nuts & candy bars.MREs
Small aluminum cookpots
flint, matches, tinder, small stove & fuel.
Tent,sleeping bag, tarp, wool blanket
boots,wool sox,thermal underwear, poncho
plastic garbage bags

first aid kit, soap, vaping kit

multi-tool, big knife, sword, gun (357 or something like that if I get it)
crossbow of some kind. Hatchet, machete

maglite, candles, cranklight,crank-radio with cell phone hook up
cell phone

Duct tape, cash, note pad & pencils, maps
toilet paper, rope, dust mask
10 bandanas - lots of uses!
fishing line & hooks
compass & whistle

save room, wear the boots...

Things I would add:

coffee. I am not a fan of instant coffee, but its easy to take with you and you dont need filters or anything.
Powered creamer (go to corner store and take a couple packets)
sugar or splenda
salt and pepper packets
Sams sells prepackaged silverware with salt pepper napkins etc or you can get extras when you go to KFC.
a good compass
whistle
signal mirror

Duct tape is a great idea. Heres a good way to pack it- YouTube - Duct Tape: Survival Kit contents

Every bag is different depending on the person and the region.

Heres mine.

Watch the movie 127 Hours, then imagine what you wish you had if you were him. That's what I'd want in my pack.
For the weapons . . . if it were actual items that I have . . . I'd probably pick my 22/410 for the fact that I could carry plenty of ammo, it's light, it's quiet, and it's great for hunting small animals.
I only have one functional sword, so that would come along.
I have no handgun though. *scanning classifieds now*

It's a Savage Model 24, 22/410 over/under, single shot per barrel, single action, breech load rifle. I don't figure I'd need too much speed for a rifle, as it would be for distance. I just did a little research and found that this rifle is older than I am. There is no serial number on it, so it was made prior to the last half of 1968. They started making them in 1948, but this one already has the patent number on it, so it would be from the end of that span. It's a trusty little rifle. I used to run around on the mountains with it when I was a kid. I only wish I could trust my son with it, LOL.

Ruger 10/22 True no brainer for me. Anything past 300yds isn't my problem!
1- hand gun- revolver or pistol? what caliber?
XD45 since it's what I have. If dream gun then I'd choose a 1911 race gun converted to 9mm for ammo availability. Slightly edged out a suppressed Ruger Mk II. I didn't want to cheat and have 2 'silent' weapons but I'd prefer to carry the same ammo.
1- Silent weapon- crossbow or compound bow or sword?
Compound bow. I'm not as well versed as I should be with one but I like to keep my distance. Plus a sword might get stuck at the worst moments...
1- survival style back pack- what do you carry in the pack with you?
ALICE pack. If it's good enough for the troops, it's good enough for me. With the added bonus of front side attachment points. It's already designed to carry everything you'll need so there's no compromise involved!

So what would you choose and why?

Details in red :D

She's an imposter!!!! No one in Seattle owns a poncho. Rain is called Seattle sunshine.

BAZINGA!

That would be the proper use of Bazinga :D :D :D

All these items are in my possession now. No raids on Wal-Mart required.

Long Gun - 20Ga Shotgun (Birdshot for the small animals, buckshot and deer slugs for larger animals and game)

Handgun - .357 Magnum (You just can't beat the reliability of a revolver)

Silent Weapon - Bear Compound Bow (I destroy deer with it - would love to try a zombie)

Backpack - Change of clothes for different temperatures (It routinely drops 50 degress between noon and night in the desert), Swiss Amry knife (There's little I can't do with it), water, MRE's, waterproof matches and lighters... and as much camping and cooking gear as I can jam in there.
